Thank you Shane. I learned a new word "sisalation" which apparently is a brand name unique to Australia. Google is wonderful. I am quite interested in the different building methods you have. Here, we never put a moisture barrier on the exterior as it will trap moisture in the walls. Our vapour barrier goes on the interior between the drywall and the insulation. We do use "house wrap" often called Tyvek (brand name). It prevents water from the outside entering but allows moisture from inside the walls to escape. I am quite enjoying your build.

Shane, I used sisilation in conjunction with GreenStuff polyester insulation in the walls of my shed (R 3.0). This is because the western Queensland sun is a fair bit savage. I also put the GreenStuff in the ceiling over the suspended ceiling. It all works well, was warm in the winter and cool in summer. There is one thing I did a couple of years ago, I did the same as you with the wrap, but I kept it going over the windows and door then cut out the holes for them. Much easier than cutting the sisilation before tacking it. I also used the same idea for the gyprock. Cheers Mate, thanks for your great ideas. Rossco

😄 I'm a Bricklayer, there probably having a cup of tea and got to comfortable to move.👍 it's funny to see that other countries do things differently,we have a D.P.M vapour barrier on the inside of the timber frame after the king span insulation boards. and a breathable foil kit paper on the outside with the silver foil facing outwards possibly due to different climates. then the brickwork. apart from that your project is looking great. look forward to watching your videos.Take care.👍

i am very curious why this vapor barrier is put on first as in the states here we sheet the walls to the framing then apply this vapor barrier before installing windows and doors to be basically foil taped of some sorts before the brick layer comes. some will use tyvek which keeps moisture from coming in but will breathe outwards. inside after all electrical and plumbing is done then we normally insulate then a vapor barrier such as 4 mill poly plastic then the sheetrock.

+whitewolf8758 G'day Whitewolf. Over here the climate is a lot different to yours. We don't get the extremes of cold and heat so our insulation requirements are much less. Cheers mate

+shaneconlan1 i get the weather difference but wondering why there is no sheeting(plywood or osb) on the outside before the poly goes on? thats the main support of keeping your house straight and durable. there is one company here that does what you did and 99 percent of the homes fail within 6 to 8 years as they are very flimsy without the sheeting. only reason they do this is to cut corners and cost. thanks again.

Question would appreciate your help So from the bottom I let it hang past the timber by 50ml. And I didn’t use tape what’s the Porpose of the tape ? I do have the tape and I will use it around the windows only around the sides. The top and bottom of need to so water don’t get trapped and run down the sarking instead is that right ?
