    I’m a 61 yr old lady and I’m finishing my second room along with the hall way. It’s easy. I can’t do an entire room in one day, this lets me work in smaller sections. I lay out and pre cut a section, then glue. The next day a precut and fit the next 6-8 rows, and the following day I glue down. Working just an hour or so a day I just did an entire room this week. I’m getting ready to put down the moulding to cover the gap and I’m done.

  • @TheHandyNeighbor

    @TheHandyNeighbor

    Жыл бұрын

    Nothing much, they say it might make it warmer on your feet and that is it. On the other hand id you get the flood or sewage backup it will all go under the subfloor and wood will absorb the water and swell. Here when you apply the glue on concrete and install plank over it you just have to mop it and that is it, no water will come under the plank as you do not leave any space under the plank. Good luck!

If I'm going to reinstall new planks over the existing glue which is tacky, what would you recommend? Scrape as much glue off as possible then apply more glue over the top?

    It should work yes, use any “pressure sensitive” glue. Many flooring stores will be able to sell you this kind of vinyl tile glue. I installed some on OSB subfloor and worked great. Dry time is shorter than on concrete because wood is porous. Try it on one piece to see how it looks.

    With the advent of Lvp and modern laminates I don’t understand the reasoning for using glue down flooring. Is it a price point?

  • @TheHandyNeighbor

    @TheHandyNeighbor

    Жыл бұрын

    Mostly you want to use glue down flooring on basement concrete floors as they are usually not leveled at all, and with LVP or laminate you can get many soft spots as there is some wiggle room everywhere what can cause click flooring locks to disengage and get loose after few years. As well another adventage of glue down is if you get a flood in the basement you can just mop it and done, while in the case of LVP water can go under the flooring so you might have to remove to dry the floor.

    No, did now happen to me even once. I heard about it but in my case it is not noticable at all as it is less then 1 mm. I did several of these with the same floor and I had this floor in my business (different brand of the glue down plank) and in all these cases I did not have this problem like some are saying.

  • @TheHandyNeighbor

    @TheHandyNeighbor

    Жыл бұрын

    No no primer needed at all. Just scrape off any mud, dirt or stuff like that with mudding knife or spatula and that is it. Vacuum the floor. Glue is very sticky, you can use anywhere, concrete or wood subfloor.

    So where you start and glue down the first 2 planks. Then when you start the rest won't the glue on first part be dry when you start the rest? How do you ensure it won't cause a seam to appear between first 2 planks and the rest?

    Yes you can. Don’t go to far with the glue in that case. Lay one row of planks far as you want, mark it where it ends and apply the glue only up to that sport where your plank will and or one inch over.

  • @TheHandyNeighbor

    It should not unglue if proper glue was used as that glue is very sticky. But, If that happened for any reason, remove or lift the plank, take flat spatula and try to scrape it off as much as you can and apply new vinyl plank/ vinyl tile glue.
