Hello I have M8S amlogic s812 box, it diesnt send the video signal to the tv. I tried with amlogic burning tool but cannot connect to pc (i have done flashing fw already so that is not an issue) and I also tried flashing firmware via sd card but cannot enter recovery mode, even waiting 60 seconds didnt help. Is there a solution for fixing my box ? Kind regards, Mensur

Your box is an Amlogic S905, so this burning method will work, but you have to have the correct firmware.

You can run Android on the box, and either LibreELEC or Linux from a microSD card and dual boot that way. No Windows though. The beta version of LibreELEC 9, does give you Netflix in 720P with Dolby Digital Plus.

Your box is a Rockchip SoC, so this firmware will not work with your device. Look on Freaktab, they may have a firmware for you.

That was a fantastic box in it's day. You have to find a ROM that will run on your device, and I am not sure where to find one.

If the ROM is made for your specific device, then YES..... If it is the wrong firmware, it won't install.

get two old chargers or any usb cable that has data transfer capable. cut them open, and strip the wires back. twist the wires together so Red twists to red etc... and tape everything up.

Normally you would see a hardware hacker ripping one of these things open, looking for a uart, getting a serial terminal hooked up, reverse engineering the whole box then cross-compiling a Linux system for it. This old man simplified the process for himself without having any idea what he avoided. You sir found a USB port that also serves as a debugger and just used that to flash your firmware images.

I have an old Megassi C96X android box, and I can not seem to find the firmware to install android tv, do you know where I can find the file to get it to successfully work. Any help would be appreciated

I'd like to install the "Android TV" OS on my Sammix r95 TV box but I'm not sure if it is compatible with the BX905X_V1.0 motherboard. It has the Amlogic s905x chipset but despite my best research efforts I cannot find an image that will work on it (the specific brand and board). Do you know where I can find an image that supports wifi, a remote control, bluetooth, etc. that will work? If not, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I am not sure about an Android TV rom for your box you will have to search on Freaktab. However, Gearbest just posted a coupon to get the Mecool M8S Pro L with Bluetooth Voice remote for $69.69 USD. No, the Tivo stream has a locked bootloader, so it can not run another OS.

Which device do you have?? Most of the boxes have a reset hole somewhere, but a few do not have one. There are other methods to swap firmware's also.

I think this answer comes quite late, but in your case usually it is hidden in side of the the AV port (just put the toothpick inside and you will know.

That is a tough question...... It depends on what OS you want to use, Android, Linux or LibreELEC/CoreELEC. Right now, boxes based on the Amlogic SoC are the best boxes for modding....... I have a lot of different boxes running different OS's. The most powerful box that is the most supported is the Odroid N2, but I do not have one. I have the Beelink GT King and King Pro, both of which are using the newest Amlogic S922X. There is a Linux and CoreELEC port for the King and King Pro.

@@clarkss12 thanks a lot! It just helped. Use for play store apps youtube and kodi no diffrent which system operation. Only was usefull like android bar menu but more stable than. I used two cheap rockchip tv sticks but both crashed during flash same behavior. It just not made for exchange operations. It just read what fabric gave. So i search no super high performance but exchangable. What do you think bout rapsberry pi 3? Would be fast enough for base 3d gaming and kodi?? Whould rp3 strong enogh to stram 1080p video with kodi no lags (any)?? Cost low and possibility huge!! Not crash during flash suppose. Don't even know what libreelec is just heard word. :) (tanks for reply!@!!!!!)

Yes, there is a way to create a bootable drive to install a firmware. You will have to look on Freaktab for that procedure for your device.... But yes, there is a method where you don't need to connect your device to a compuer

Does the software know what drive to install to? I’d hate to see it install on another drive by accident (E instead of F)

That is a common box, so you need to go to Freaktab and search for that box. You are trying to install a wrong ROM is why it is stopping at 7% . You can find the correct ROM for your box at Freaktab.

With the burning tool, you do not need to use an SD card... The firmware transfers from your computer to your device via the USB cable.

It's not a virus some programs use things which are commonly found in viruses (like cracked games will have programs meant to bypass the copyright/anti-cheat (in some cases) protection. However these types of programs can be used to bypass anti-viruses and it most likely noticed that and flagged it as malicious. If you ever download a program and your not sure go to Virustotal and upload the program something like 68? anti-virus engines including all of the most widely known and used AV's. If the program is malicious the site will most certainly tell you but you can't be certain it's not a false positive either (unless a large group of engines detect it). Generally if Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Norton, Emisoft feel it's safe than it is They also use a lot of machine learning/artificial detection engines as well which offer a lot. I can't speak for all of them but I do know Sopho's Machine Learning engine has get to miss a threat in all of it's testing, it has false flagged a few times but it's not missed a single one even malware written on the spot (zero day) to test it for laughs. I guess my point here is that it's not malware and if you feel you have a false positive than submit the file to VirusTotal for a near real time (minus the min or so it takes for all them to scan it) answer. ------------- Totally missed my point in all of this, this program is more effective some boxes will not let you write to internal memory via SD card so you must keep what ever SD card you used in the device. As long as that SD card is attached (in cases like this example) it will work fine and store changes on the SD card however if you remove that SC card it will revert back to a black post format slate. This program solves the problem and it's extremely useful in cases like this (where my first box had this issue).

You can try AtvXperience V4 lastest rom for S905x chipset. I am currently using V2h for S912 chipset and it is working very good

You are correct on how to make your own male to male cord. I found a couple of "heavy" USB cables and cut the ends off and stripped the colored wires. Then I twisted the colored wires together, black to black, etc as you said. Some of my spare USB cables have a very thin cable, I didn't use those cables. Also, on one of my S905x boxes, my computer will not detect it being connected using the USB ports on my computer. I have to use my powered USB hub, and then it detects it. Most importantly, you HAVE to connect to the correct USB port on your box, it has to be the OTG port.

What error do you get when using the USB burn tool?? What firmware are you trying to install, and did you do a search on Freaktab for a ROM that will work with your box? No matter what I do, the box does not get recognized in Windows. I plug it in, Windows does the tone and it shows up in device manager as "Unknown Device" for a few seconds and then Windows immediately disconnects it. Please help.

If you get sound when you plug in your box then that is the biggest issue. If that's the case then either the firmware you're trying to install is wrong or else you need to try a different burning tool.

It should, but depends on the memory module used and WiFi module....... It is worth a try.

Ronnie Bailey, yes. This is my box. But there's no more support from jynxbox. The last Kodi version was Gotham. Then i upgraded to a pivos firmware that was compatible and that's it. No more firmware from anyone.

Hello do you know of any Android TV boxes that come already rooted?

I am pretty sure the mecool km 8 comes pre-rooted. Off the top of my head I am not sure which other devices come pre rooted.best way to check would be to look on freak down for any particular devices you are interested in.

Your box is an Amlogic S905,,,my video is about an Amlogic S905x. Look for a different firmware for your box.

for me it comes to 7% and than i get error, tried diferent firmwares, but it always get's stuck at 4% or 7% with error

Hey Buddy I have a tv-box Auxtek Model At-01 it has 1GB DDR3 and CPU is Allwinner A20 does this tutorial correct or do I need a different ROM?? Thank you for your support

With Allwinner SoC's, you need a different ROM AND a different method of getting into the boot loader. So, no this method will not work on your device.

If i use other model of firmware to install in my box, is it possible ?

That is a tough question to answer. You may get another firmware to work, but your Wi-Fi and ethernet and Bluetooth may not work. It could also brick your box.

You can install Linux, but not Windows......
