Hi friends! I thought I'd blast out a quick how-to episode, as it's been a while... on the menu today, delicious copper foil tape!

I felt like this one was really rushed- I was trying to keep it as short as possible! Thank you.
I’m glad this showed up in my feed, you’re inspired me to try this on one of my own guitars.

Go for it!
Love your videos and the way you work man. Perfect timing as I was just about to do some shielding on one of my guitars and I'll certainly be doing it your way. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge 💚.

Actually learnt loads from this, cheers!

Thanks Chris! That's why I'm here.
Right on man. Glad to see a new video. My method is very similar. I found that the end of a small wooden dowel works pretty good at flattening the foil and working it into the corners. I keep one on the bench just for this purpose.

Absolutely- that would be great, especially if it had a tiny round over to avoid tearing. I just have so many tools at this point if I can just use my finger for something, that's what I do.
Hey Jay! Nice to watch a new video! Cheers bro!

Hey! I've been wondering how you E boys are doing!
I use the same procedure. I like to do the sides first. Make sure all your copper is grounded to all the other copper and then guitar ground. It should all become one path. You can use copper or solder wires. Thank you for the video and great tips!!

Was wondering if you put an earth lead onto the shielding, or just rely on the pot to earth it

I run a wire from the back of one of the potentiometers to the bottom of one of the individual bridge saddles, and use more tape under all the bridge saddles to connect them together. i don't ground to the copper tape in the cavity, and I use insulated washers on all the pots etc to ensure they don't connect with the tape. The tape basically forms a faraday cage to keep out interference, but it itself isn't grounded to anything.
Do you need to solder anything when you are shielding the cavity with the foil? Thanks!

It depends on your wiring schematic, but in most cases as long as your potentiometers are all grounded to each other and the output jack/bridge, there's no need because the sleeve of the pots ground to the cavity shielding. Some people use the shielding only, and don't ground the pots to each other. Try to find a wiring schematic for your guitar, and check.
Love the approach. Just an inquiry: what was the software used for design?

That is an old version of Rhino 3D.
