I don’t like hitting bearing to knock out seal , I just use seal puller . Glad he used torque wrench and checked end play . Needs axle gasket instead of silicone. IMO

Looking online it looks like proper 6 point socket is 3 3/4.

How does applying silicone to the seal help to extend seal life?

It does not, you are suppose to just use a thin film of oil so the seal glides onto the surface and you dont load it up with the drag of silicone

Silicone helps fill-in any imperfections or voids on the metal surface so the oil doesn't leak prematurely. It's an old school trick

Estoy a Punto de cambiar un Reten Wheel seal en un Western Star 5700 XE 2016 y trae ese mismo mecanismo gracias a tu video que fue de bastante ayuda

Lo unico es la tuerca no es 3-7/8" es la misma medida de Rosca pero la medida de Tuerca es mas pequeña
