Ever wish your Polaris Ranger had back up lights? Well you can add them easily because Polaris Rangers have backup light wiring hidden under the cargo bay that makes it easy to add backup lights.

    Best comment - "I couldn't stand it knowing those pre-wired backup lights pigtails were there". Things like that get me every time too Martin. 😃 Nice install. Good deal Polaris for pre-wiring your rigs. Take care.

    Love it, Martin! I’ve had a similar plan for my Mule. I even have the same or similar lights. I don’t think the Mule has any pre wired connectors so my plan is to tie into the reverse indicator dash light.

    Nicely done Martin. I don't have a ranger but am in the beginning stages of rewiring my sailboat, including adding courtesy lights to the cockpit. Those look like what i need. I must compliment you on the professional looking job. Well done. Also great video.

    Nicely done, Martin. I intend to wire LED lights on the lower rear of my trucks. I haven't gotten to it yet but I finally purchased the LED lights last month. Your meticulous execution is nothing less than professional. I hope the lights last for a long time and exceed your needs. Have a fine upcoming week, my friend. Full-watch. Don 👍🏽🤠 3/12/23

    It seems now that I am retired and solar powered, only operating during daylight hours, I am finally getting all my equipment set up with rear work lights. One piece I need to do is my Kubota RTV 900 side by side. That will be the most likely piece of equipment to be used in an after dark situation. As if I don’t have enough projects to keep me busy, every episode of DIY My Way gives me yet other ideas.😂 Thanks Martin. Nicely done . That should serve you well... and it even looks factory. Looks like it belongs there.

    Very nice, Martin. I've been watching many of your videos and love your 'backhoe therapy' ones. I didn't know there was existing B/U wiring in the EV. I've got a 2017, but loaded with firewood, so will have to wait to check. I do have the schematics so for now will do some looking there. I will definitely do this mod if I find the wiring. I need to get a light bar for my front as you do. Even though I've changed out the stock headlights to LED, I want LOTS of light in the front. Best two mods I ever did were removing the Pb-acid batteries and replacing them with a 11.8 Kw Lithium pack AND installing power steering. I had the hardest time getting a vendor to commit that the PS kit would fit. I finally decided to take a chance and it installed perfectly. Thanks Martin! Alsmost forgot to ask ... where did you get those two tool carrying 'posts' the fit into the beds holes?

  • @DIYMyWay

    Thank you, David! I still have the Pb-acid batteries and they are still holding up well so far, but I do plan to go to lithium batteries when they poop out. What brand and model of Li batteries did you get? Did you also change out the charger or just change the charging profile of the Delta-Q? Also, what’s the make and model of the power steering kit you bought? The tool carriers are covered in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pY6NtdZxhpC1kcY.html. They have been a great addition to the Ranger! Thanks for watching!

    @@DIYMyWay My Pb-acid batteries were OK and actually weren't that old. I just got tired of having to charge them often (which I did in my garage) and didn't like the hydrogen-sulfide smell (rotten egg odor & not healthy to breathe). In cold weather they were awful. And although I did purchase, and highly recommend it for Pb-acid cells, a 'watering kit', it was somewhat a chore to keep the cells watered regularly. I haven't charged my new Lithium but 1x this winter! Anyway to answer your questions ... I went with Voltronix for my Li-Ion kit. They had several kits to choose from and some weren't available due to Covid. I had to wait a few months before they got shipped, but worth the wait. I changed the battery charging profile of the Delta-Q via remote laptop connection with a Voltronix Tech. Service was very commendable! Top notch! For my power steering upgrade... I purchased from SuperATV, kit # PS-P-RANMID-001. I'd be happy to assist with any questions you may have. I started to make a videos on each, but just didn't have any experience doing it and never got published.

    Thanks for the info, David! I’ll definitely look into them. Yeah, the battery performance is poor in cold weather. I have the watering kit installed on mine as well.

    Another job well done Martin, and beautifully explained and documented as always. I am curious...I am absolutely sure you had a reason for only heat shrinking the male side of the spade connectors back at the lights, but for the life of me I can't deduce what that reason was? What was the logic there? Thanks!

  • @DIYMyWay

    @DIYMyWay

    Thanks Chris! That’s because the other connectors have blue molded covers and the heat shrink overlapped them to make a decent seal. Thanks for stopping by!

    Do these lights go on when the transmission is put into reverse gear, or must a dashboard rocker switch be installed to turn them on? If so, how do you wire the rocker switch? Thank you for some great project ideas!

    Why would you power a CB radio with a backup light circuit? It would only be powered when you are going in reverse.
