This is the most realistic installation of the Mauslane range hood on KZread. I have seen the installation video from Mauslane (manufacturer) and some others, all of them skipped the holding of the hood before the screwing of the hood to the çabinet bottom. Yes, the Mauslane official video used çabinet jacks, but the hood just "magically" transported itself from the island to the top of the jack. In this video, the hood was on top of the head of the installer, you saw the struggle of balancing the weight of the hood while locating the hood to the wall opening. Not a pretty picture, but real. It is this kind details make this video priceless to those of us feel ease before installing the hood...

These hoods are terrible, why in the world they don’t use top down bolts like a microwave mounting system is beyond me. The screws are a mess, the hood is heavy and unwieldy. Don’t even get me started about having to use the “filler pieces” of board on a recessed cabinet(which I have, doom on me). First attempt at this is ended with the cabinet so damaged I don’t trust the screws now, going to get some bolts with some large washers to spread out some of the stress loading. The hood is beautiful but the install is horrible.

You videos have helped me a lot. I work maintenance at a hotel and I'm always having to repair drywall and paint etc. Thanks man

Nice video, did you have to add something for "make-up air" ? Usually the local county has a limit (400 cfm) where you don't have to worry about "make-up" air.

I just got lucky that the previous manufacturer of the hood that was in this home was in the same exact placement as the new one

The existing vent going through the wall is rectangular as well?

I hope to see how the duct is connected to outside. And the actual vent power eventually goes out?

Weight of this range hood is around 40 lb. This guy is a monster if he can hold it with his head.

Ill be installing one of these soon. Question. The space between the cabinet bottom and hood top if seen some recommendations that you cut some planks to fill and then screw the range to into them instead of the cabinet itself. In your video looks like you go direct. Did it pose any issues?

Looks like no response.. My take is if the bottom of the cabinet is FLUSH, then no planks required. Else, I would screw in planks front to back on both side to give it a better grip. The top of the hood must be flush to the bottom of the cabinet surface...Hope this make sense.

when you are grilling meat in the oven and you open the door, can the range hood handle the smoke coming out of it?

I don’t think I did this model had a very solid sheet of steel

CFM = cubic feet per minute😊

Where is it venting to? Not good venting to attic.
