@@OldTimeGarage I just found your page the other night. Will watch more. Don't get me wrong, I really dislike the Richard Rawlings act. You look alike, but don't act alike. Where you guys out of? I'm a Chevy guy, but debating whether to get a f100, the c10s are too expensive now. Especially if you just kind of want a cool looking beater.

Cool, glad to have you as a subscriber. I'm out of Chilliwack BC in Canada, about 20 min east of the Sumas Washington border crossing. I hear you on the C10's they're super popular now and so the prices are going through the roof. I like the old Fords too, I have both so you won't get snubbed for buying a Ford from me!

Rick thanks for the great how to. I'm the one with the 70' F100 short bed that recently subscribed to your channel. F'ing awesome vids. I can't believe there's still a decent straight shooting mechanic/bodyman/ ace technician like yourself still hammering away and living the dream - on social media!?! I look forward to any and all vids you do on the 66-72 F100 series trucks!!! Keep up the great work, your F'ing awesome.

I use Super Pro polyurethane bushes only on all my cars, have never had a problem fitting them, and have never had one fail. But of the three common brands available here Super Pro are the softest and not much harder then rubber.

Set your pinion angle at ride height and cut those pads longer on one side to weld in with the pinion angle where you need it

+Daniel Hammerle Darren says any grease is ok but make sure the connections are clean no matter what. Scotch Brite the connections first and then any grease is good - the dielectric grease is a rip off - you can use any grease - save your money!

I own a 1965 ford f 100 with a 352 two barrel with a cruise o matic that needs help. The last guys i had work on my truck burned my motor up and my coker tires and made slicks out of them it took me eight months to save up for those tires. Your probably asking why i din't just fix it myself but i was in a spinal injury in 2001. And trusted to many people with my truck and all i got was being sick sitting here in my bed looking at my truck . SAD!

Hi there... I have a question on lowering the 58 F100 Rear What if I was just to reverse the diff to on top of the springs keeping the original springs ? Is there a Drop Spindle for the front end ? Thanks From Bill Australia

You can do that for sure Bill. There is a dropped spindle for the front of those too but I can't remember where to get them...although I'd have a hard time knowing what's close to you on the other side of the world!

I'm a bit amazed by your quick reply.. thanks for that . Can I ask you about Drop Spindle verse Drop Cross beam axle.... Do you have an opinion on preference....... If you can put on your thinking cap on where to obtain the drop spindles... Have you done a basic axle swap, under to over.. what to look out for ? We are'nt allowed to notch or alter the chassis in Aust... in fact were not allowed to do much at all, even air bags are not legal. Although l have em on my 66 impala Thanks Again Bill

  • @OldTimeGarage

It was so long ago...we build so many cars a year. I think it may have something to do with the diff now sitting on top of the leafs...the wheels were still centered in the wheel tubs where they should be. Sorry I can't offer more than that I just can't remember.

guessing the offset hole is used because since the angle of the drive shaft is decreased (due to the lowering overall), the at rest distance from the trans tail to the input yolk on the rear is reduced requiring the axle to sit slightly further back in order to prevent binding during suspension travel.

Thought I'd add that the Nolethane brand (bright red colour) are crap. I have found that they don't last as long as natural rubber and I know of at least one reputable suspension shop that won't fit them because of the constant warranty issues. In fact they put me on to the SuperPro brand because of my frustration with Nolethane. Have never seen a polyurethane bush as brittle as the ones you demonstrated though !
