I'm glad you gave the disclaimer at the beginning because I didn't want to put my life in danger ... so I got my wife to do it! She'll be ok ... eventually!

There's actually a legitimate reason why he put that in. Don't use saddle valves. You are putting a hole into you lines if the valve breaks or the rubber seal cracks your insurance won't cover it
Not a plumber or even a proficient DIYer, but everything I've heard recommends a compression or sweated tee connection; anything but a saddle valve.
Great video! Straight and to the point. I thought it was going to be a nightmare hooking up my new water line to the fridge, but this was the first and only video I watched, and it works like a charm! Thank you very much! And again. Great "DIY" Video
Thanks Jimmy! I’m going to give this a second shot. I previously replaced my water line a few months back and last week I woke up to water in the kitchen and basement due to my expert installation. :) It’s been disconnected for a week as I search for videos like this one. It was the connection from the waterline to the fridge that came disconnected. I took a screenshot of your video at that point for reference for my second attempt. Wish me luck! :)
This is exactly what someone did in my house before I bought it and now I'm having major drywall damage and leaking. Please make sure that your poly tube is in a place that will not freeze and break during winter!
This video couldn't have been better. Same fridge same kit. Thanks!!
Thank you!!! I did it myself and saved money! Also figured out how to hook up my water sprayer in my kitchen sink from this video! Ha! Too think I wasted days waiting for a man to hook it up for me@#! I'm so proud of myself!! Thank you Great Video!!😎
I did exactly what you said in the video step by step. Worked out great👍🏼 Thanks for the instructional, do it yourself, DO try this at home, video.
This is amazing and exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you for sharing your knowledge here.
Very helpful and easy. I've been trying to get help but no one I know has ever installed one before. The guys at Sutherlands are equally useful.
Thanks for the close up shots of the connections especially at 3:26 its not hard for a novice like myself to turn the little white thing-a-ma-jig the wrong way!!!

EXACTLY!!! That's the only reason that I was watching, I didn't know which way it went.
Thank you for actually showing the fitting-connection to the water inlet of the refrigerator. I feel like so many other videos omit that crucial piece. All the tubing installation means nothing if the connection goes loose or breaks apart. I sped through the rest of the video, so can't comment on the complete thing.
Nice work, i will be installing a line from my new RO system to the fridge. I wasnt sure how to make that connection so this helps.
Those puncture saddle connections are how to flood your house 101
SUCCESS! Great heads up on the slack for pulling the fridge out, I'm not bright enough to think of that on my own. Thanks for the upload. 👍
The general expert! Thanks again Bro for a great video
Thanks man! Crossing that bridge today. Good video.
This was extremely helpful. My contractor and all of the subs left me to finish things up. There is a valve in a box on the wall behind the refrigerator but the line on the back of the fridge would not reach it. AH HA! one must bridge the gap with an installation kit. Easy. I wonder if they offer one without the valve that I won't be needing? Thanks for the help!
Best disclaimer ever. I had to like, subscribe and click the notification bell.
Thank you! Nice video. Easy to understand.
Good video, short and to the point. Great video.
Really great instructional video, very helpful. Thanks
Thanks dude. Had to go exploring for that cold water knob in the basement but once I found the copper wire it was easily traced to victory
Thanks for the helpful video. Thanks also for the disclaimer. I didn't die.
Thanks Jimmy......good job! It was very helpful!
Always put the supply line connection for the refrigerator or ice maker at the WATER MAIN. This insures the freshest water possible going to the refrigerator or ice maker. The reason is that when you connect at the water main, any water being used, hot, cold, indoors, or outdoors passes by this location. When I moved into my home the former owner had the water connection at the cold supply for a little used lavatory sink. The water there was almost always stale as that lavatory wasn't used much. This is not where you want your consumable water coming from. The freshest water is always at the main.
Great practical no frills instruction: thank you.
Comedic honesty intro is hilarious
Thank you for you time... they help us
Awesome getting mine done today in about 30min Home Depot about to drop it off in a few 👍🏼
Very helpful.. Thank you 👍
Very good and detailed explanation. Thanks.
Thank you for this awesome video! Can you please advise name for the 3-piece assebly that you connect the water hose to the fridge hose? (last part of the video)
a lot of people dont like saddle valves but i do. they are fast, cheap and easy to to install. never had a problem with them. some people just like to complain and gripe.

mine just failed recently on fridge got water all over basement, ended up sweating in a copper T with a Dahl 1/4 turn sweat valve. Also have one on my humidifier thats green so that one is fixed next same way very soon.
Thank you!
Thanks man your video help me a lot.
I did!!!! Thank you man.
Great video 5stars
Very useful, thank you. Best regards
I’m glad you put that disclaimer in the beginning because this is not good advise. Polyvinyl tubing will begin to leak eventually where it penitrates the floor. Your line goes through several joists so you have multiple points of failure. Don’t cheap out. Run a copper water line. Also, with that saddle valve, the only thing holding back full water pressure is that little rubber gasket that will dry out crack and leak at some point. Always cut in a tee and solder in a proper shutoff. If you are not comfortable doing so, hire a plumber.
THANKS YOU ARE REALLY GREAT HELP.
Great simple vid
Saddle valves are the worst.

They are prohibited to be used exactly how this tool used it. This video is not good at all and someone could do some damage. That's why he put a disclaimer at the start, so he doesn't get sued for his fuck up that he made a video about.

@@jimajams7080 Yup. No one should ever use saddle valves. They're going to break, and they're going to leak. Instead of including them with ice maker kits, they should include a tee that can be inserted into the cold water connection for the kitchen sink. It's just as easy to install and works perfectly. That's what I've got at my house, but at another family member's house where there was plumbing nearby but no sink, I had to solder in a real connection :)
"Pull my refrigerator away from my wall" ohhhhh so *THAT'S* what I was doing wrong. Thanks!
That type of saddle valve that comes with the kit violates code in many US states; it can cause leaks. If I had a copper line installed, I would NEVER replace it with a poly line; the fittings at the ends can be easily replaced. Also, pulling a line from under the sink is another good alternative.

Thanks so much Jimmy.
Thanks for the demo installation! I have a lot of tubing on the inside of the fridge. Is that much tubing there for a reason? My water comes out much too slowly so I am not sure if the amount of water line in the back (inside) of the fridge causes lower water pressure. Can you help?
Wow! This was very easy
The picture at 3:23 is what everybody came to see! 👍
I need to paint the walls and didn't know how far I could pull the fridge away from the wall, this helped a great deal! Thanks
Beautiful bro. Is easy!!!
Thanks. This showed me exactly what I needed to know.
Well done I need this video 👍
I don’t leave messages but I had to great job very good video very well explained thanks pal good job
I like your car channel too.
Thanks for the info-video
Cool video 👍
Nice job
First off the existing "Saddle Valve" is not a permitted plumbing fitting. Both the Ontario Building Code and Canadian National Code (under the plumbing section) do not permit these fittings (because they leak...duh). Secondly the kit used must be "CSA" approved. All plumbing fixtures, pipes, etc must be CSA approved (and marked so) So....if you do install as shown...and have a flood....well don't tell your insurance you did it on the cheap.
Does it hurt the water line if you keep the water shut off valve half-way? Or is the pressure the same as if full open?
Thanks for the great video!
Awesome!!!
How do I disconnect the cooper tubing that’s already connected to the main water valve in the basement?
At least you honest but I don't think you give yourself enough credit for your knowledge!
Thanks!
Great job, I hope you took that copper to a scrap yard for a couple of bucks.
How is the water pressure when trying to get a glass of water from fridge. I've installed 2 of these connectors before and both of them had no water pressure at all.
No water filter?
Hello and thank you for helpful info. I did the job but no water coming from the water dispenser. Please let me know what is missing?

Did you turn the valve for water supply back so water could come out?
Hey Jimmi, listen my fridge is kemmore e doors. and dont see any water pipe line coming with it and is not dispensing ice or water.... what can i do to fix it?
Thanks to you , I lost my finger . Just kidding , great video by the way Wish you all the best ☺️
i need yo see the back off the refrigeerator lines i need to replace to the filter and ice maker lines
I have a copper wire connection and can’t for the life of me figure out what to use to connect the plastic tube from the fridge to the copper wire. Any ideas?
Good video except I wouldn't use the zip tie to secure the extra hose. Only use the tape, that way if someone pulls the refrigerator out too far the tape will just pull off and the the extra line will uncoil without damaging or stressing the line.
you forgot an "emergency" shut off valve somewhere in the line!

Still clueless as to what fittings I should buy cause there are different kinds at home depot and lowes. One kind has a metal insert already and the little white plastic sleeve shown by him wont be needed. But i think I like it to be plastic rather than metal and I dont know where to buy the one thats shown in this video
This is for people that have decent municipal water supply. Other's not so lucky must first route it through the water filtration system (that they have to buy and install first too). Thanks.

Every refrigerator I've had with ice and or water have a filter the water goes through before it goes to the ice maker and water dispenser.
Good 👍👍👍👍
I bought a fridge from the Sears outlet and the waterline dispenser coming OUT of the fridge is missing the connection shown at 1:15 anyone know what its called so i can buy one? Thanks
I don't want to use the water from the refrigerator. I can't. Do I need to put the water filter if I don't and will never use the water?
Can I use it on pex?
We got it installed but the waterline seemed to be frozen any idea how I can fix this?
Do you have to connect that water line? Or is it ok to just plug in the fridge only & just leave the line unconnected on the back of the fridge? Thanks
@GotXDeleted

You dont have to use the water or ice maker in your fridge, just make sure you turn your ice maker off so it doesnt get damaged
Saddle valves do not meet cofe in many jurisdictions . Eventually, that rubber gasket deteriorates and leaks. Sweat in a proper valve!
My fridge is across from the sink. We have an attic but no basement (duplex top unit). How do I install water?

Tony That seems like an odd suggestion.. Their question is predicated on the sink's water line not being an option for them. Or am I missing something?

Michael Richards I didn't get that. Maybe he could tap right into the line from the basement? But he says he has no basement.
I have a GE side by side. Got it used. Someone cut the water line before sale. It's 3/8". Literally no place I can find can figure out how to fix this. Every water line kit is 1/4". Is GE special? Driving me nuts trying to mcgyver this.
Did that ever leak?
Quick question , my water line isnt copper its pvc would this kit work on pvc pipe?
Damn after that disclaimer I dont even want my refrigerator to make ice or water
I've used those pierce valves before they leak bad....
and the refrigerator does not have a filter for the water?
Did not show how far the parts for the connection?
Started watching this and I thought i accidentally turned on my last 1 road video
Never use that plastic line, it will crack over time and flood your house.
Can you help me out
What if I don’t have a basement, but I want my fridge to be placed near the sink in the kitchen
You are supposed ot run copper line from the Main water line to your fridge
Can I know what kind of blue tape did you use on the back of the refrigerator? Thank you.
