What fuse are you using for this and which socket you use. If you are connecting this to the radio power do you increase the fuse with 5A or not? Ty.

It is easy if you don't have seat heaters. This product only fits to 2 of the holes, most left and where the window heater button is.

Yeah, unfortunately my Jetta has seat heaters *and* ASR, so I'm left with no blanks to utilize at all.

Can you tell me the name of the radio? From what company is it?

It doesn't look flush like the OEM buttons do. Also, can you disable the gross LEDs?

A soldering iron and some heat shrink would be usefull

i have a Pioneer MVH-210EX in my mk4 and i love it, cupholders block the radio because it’s a dumb place for cupholders. i highly recommend the Pioneer radio

Too bad you put it upside down tho, nice vid!

I also have a mk4 and also a 2 din radio every time I drive there is no signal on the display, if I stop it works normally again. Can anyone help?

@@legorj35 die dinger sind eh eh graus ich hab einen bei mir eingebaut, erst darfst du eine halbe Stunde feilen bis das ding passt und jetzt habe ich die übelsten Störungen sobald ich ein Handy anstecke. Wenn kein Kabel in der Buchse ist scheit alles ok zu sein Sobald man das Handy ansteckt bye bye Empfang. Den Leiter hab ich eh schon von der Scheibenheizung genommen und die Masse von der Karosserie direkt ............

Hi, I just got one of these on eBay. It doesn't click in to the dash. It kind of fits in the hole, but it doesn't click in to place like the stock ones do. Does yours fit properly?

Hmm. So when you remove a USB cable does it pull the thing out with it? I guess these are out there being sold even though they don't fit properly?

Hi, i think the black wire is the mass, then What is the yellow one ?

Black one i ground that goes on negative terminal on the battery , and yellow is +12 volts, and red is +12v that comes from the key switch, that is called remote wire

DIY Garage Projects and reviews . To radio goes 12v 5A not 5v 2 A that a phone needs. It would be better to use a whole insert from cigarette lighter adapter as there is a resistor. Maybe it is what you did just I couldn’t see it. No hate in my comment just i think some phones may not take it.

There is a 5v voltage regulator in that plastic bit that holds a usb plug, no one should plug their phone directly to 12v

@@lukasz-or8dq I think you dont know much about electronics here, the USB port that we installed has a VOLTAGE regulator, it takes 12 volts from cars battery and steps it down to 5v, so you can charge your phone, you dont want to plug your phone directly in to 12v... No USB socket EVER should have 12V output EVER... and you dont have to mention AMPs since phones decide how much current they take based on the battery, cable etc.. you can have 5V 10000A, phone would only take 1amp of current at 5v since it can regulate the charging speed of the battery ba itself

@@DIYGarageProjects Mostly true, while an electronic device will only take what it needs from an abundance of amperage, it bears saying that you still need to be concerned with the amperage output of the USB circuit, be it an in-dash module like this or a plug-in power supply. Most modern phones require 1 A *minimum* to charge, but the market is still flooded with tons of cheap Chinese garbage USB modules that only put out 500 mA, which is obviously not enough. Always, always, always check the output specs of a USB power source before buying it.

There is no need to solder any connection been doing it for years without solder and never have any problems. Works just fine and it's reserseable if one day you sell the car and want to keep your accessories you can just remove the tape take the cables back out tape again like never been touched

Other than disgusting sticky goop all over the wiring. They make quick splice connectors that you pinch onto a wire that allow you to plug another wire in with a male spade connector, I'd sooner use those. Electrical tape just makes a hideous mess over time.

@@ProjectDv2 i know what you mean but the goop can be cleaned with wd40 if needed. i know there are these quick splice cables but some wires like canbus wires in some cars are really thin and those quick connectors sometimes don't work well on very thin wires

@@VF28WWE WD-40 would be a lateral shift, at best. As for wires on the CANBUS, you shouldn't be splicing into those circuits to begin with, and DEFINITELY not to power a USB port. For a project like this video, a T-tap terminal is perfectly suited, and an even quicker way to splice in at that.

that is not a usb port, it's a usb charging point...
