Curious to know if you are running a long line and you hook up the line to the transformer what happens to the end of the other line?

I’m a newbie to outdoor lighting. I just bought a Harbor Breeze 200w transformer from Lowe’s. The back connector plates don’t indicate COM or 12v. Just 4 terminal clamp screws. The instructions say to twist the strands of a cable run together once split and stripped and then insert them under a single clamp screw. This is different from what you are showing here. Help please!!

I have this same transformer providing power to several landscape lights. I only had one wire going to all of them (just connected to one set of the COM and 12V terminals). The system has been working great for about 8 months but recently stopped working. The transformer has power and when the wire to the lights is not connected, there is voltage at the terminals but when I have the wires connected there is no voltage but the transformer still turns on. Any ideas what may have caused this to stop working?

Rather then cleaning the used wire tips, cut at least three inches off and start over with clean wires. And when placing the clean wire on the side of the screw place on the left side of it, becasue the screw tightens clockwise.

Shouldn't they have a GFIC outside?

What happens if the Com isn’t identified? On the new Portfolio, it’s blank.

How many lights you can run on every output of the transformer???

Never trust an electrician who wears sandals at the job. Plus fire an electrician who wears a covid mask when working alone.

Dumb question how do you know which side is common or not?

Don't be dumb wear proper footwear.

I think if you're out in the open air with plenty of ventilation and not really near anybody, shouldn't need a mask

Why are you wearing a mask outside with no one around?

Sorry cant trust a guy that wears a useless mask outdoors in the open air......... but the exposed toes are very safe sir

If masks work, you don't need a shot.

Skip the mask lecture and dwell on the basics.
