It would have be nice to see the solar light lit up at night to see how bright or dim it was.

Haha … you crack me up in every video or live stream. It’s just another positive part of your character. Charming guy . Thx for all your help over the past two plus years. From the first drywall video I saw I’ve learned to keep it simple.

This is the perfect video for me!! I have a broken post in my lawn like that... Attempted to replace the bulb only to have some odd buzzing noise come out. I honestly don't even know where the switch would be, it has never worked since we purchased the house. THIS is the perfect fix and will be my next small home project! Thank you!!!

I had an old gas lamp post in my front yard that probably hadn't worked for decades. It was well-built and all, but more than showing it's age. I didn't want to replace it with a solar version that would work like 2 hours into the winter evenings. So I bought an electric post light, but instead of running 120v to it, I ran low voltage landscape power to it (with six path lights along the wire) and put a low voltage A19 bulb in the socket. It all runs from a dusk to dawn sensing inverter that I have on a timer and it's like a grand total of 10 watts. You do have the added bit of landscape wiring, but because it's low voltage it can be just under the surface. Oh and as far as price, if you exclude the path lights, standard lamp posts are ~$60 and the inverter and 100' of wire was $150, so in total it's about the cost of the solar lamp. Low voltage path lights are about the same cost as good solar lights so it's kind of a wash, but you gain the advantage of having them on whenever you want and not having to keep them in sunlight.

You probably should have taped off the solar panels and given that entire light fixture a shot of the spray paint. That plastic is going to fade insanely fast

Someone wiring a live wire to a ground on a single pole switch in my kitchen has 100% reinforced my already existing presumption to just turn off the mains every time.

Jeff, was the top part made of plastic? Does the light stay on all night? Do you have enough insulation in the top of the mobile home? It doesn't look like there's much room for it.

LEDs degrade due to Environmental heat. They do not have to be on to degrade. Outdoor Luminaires often need special air vents to allow air pressure to equalize & not allow water in. In mornings when luminaires turn off interior air pressure can reduce bringing in morning dew moisture. High IP ratings are needed. It is all about what you want to see and how you want to see it. It if looks like what you want then great, but be aware you might not get the service life you expect.

Go dig back through his videos. Back to where he was doing projects in others homes. He was much thinner then, 😉. He has a vast library of videos. Many are very simple projects that any one new can tackle. His A to Z videos are great, as are his beginners videos. I have learned so much from him. He shows you his process, but the big thing is his mantra of know the end from the beginning, have everything on site, and if you aren't happy with a result, stop and fix it so you are. Do one small project at a time to build your confidence. A lot of this is not difficult, but its complex. Doing things in order is crucial for the end result.

I have learned the hard way to always try to avoid buying from amazon. The quality is just not there and It will always disappoint. At the very least stick to brand names that you know very well but even then its risky.
