This video was very useful! I have totally different idea about this kind of lock. I will install one in the door to my garage.

I love and enjoy the video for it would be cool to see more smart locks that are more rental-friendly focus just in case we want to get a smart lock for our homes. :) Anywho keep up the amazing content you guys/ladies. ;)

This really should come with its own deadbolt instead of having adapters. Cheap design.

I have this lock now. I’ve had it for 3 months and I’m changing it. It opens too slow. The codes don’t work if you don’t have the alarm pad and tower although you don’t have to have the service plan to make it work. The bracket behind the keypad can be screwed into the door instead of just using the sticky tape. The keypad is then clipped into the bracket but it can still be taken and if you don’t carry your keys you won’t be able to get in.

To add you have to calibrate the lock from the keypad as well or it will cause problems.

My smart lock is now shifting. Do I have to remove it to tighten it?

Yeh I need to buy a new dead bolt I guess as the plate doesn't lineup properly

Simply safe and ring are to to most hacked systems on the market

Video neglected to mention how to use the included tool to open the keypad to begin battery use.

So am I still able to use my key to open the door 🚪 in case the smart function or the keypad won’t work?

Good question! It depends on your door. The SimpliSafe lock replaces deadbolts but not door handle locks. If your key works for both on your door, then you can still use it or the doorknob

The video skips the part on HOW to set and change the code!! Ive used this lock as a stand alone unit 2 years now, it's been great. Can't figure out how to change the code. Support says to use the keypad and refers to whole system, and not the lock itself.

The key pad just sticks to your door? That doesn't seem very secure to me.

It's pretty slick! What's the cost of this vs. other smart-locks you can still install if your a renter??? Only thing I do not like about it is the "key pad" has to be "stuck" onto the door and requires it's own batteries! Your landlord may get pissed off you "stuck" something to the outer door.

SimpliSafe's Smart Lock is $100 versus the average $200(ish) seen in our favorite ones, so it's a decent deal. And agreed, the adhesives on the outside don't feel like a foolproof option either. I got lucky and was able to do this installation just before they repainted our place!

@@asksafewise ; Thank you for the reply! YES! $100 is MUCH less and more affordable! I wish "other" lock vendors would come up with a solution like this making the install less complicated. I currently have a Schlage "smart-lock" with my setup and it took a few tries to get the dead-bolt "lined" up to work "smoothly"! If it's not "lined" up correctly it will KILL the batteries in weeks instead of well over a year on the batteries! Keep up the great videos! Be safe!

What happens if someone decides to steal your pin pad?

They have a PIN pad and that's about it. You can still lock and unlock your door from the SimpliSafe app and change the code from your security system keypad in case they know your current code.

You used to fish bar thing you didn't use that radio transmitter thing that he blocked the signal and came in the house so you working for them

This an absolute nightmare to install. Bad product design 2/10.

This is a very stupid lock. Sticking the keypad outside? Where is the brain? Stick it with just self adhesive, whattttt? Thief then take it and threw it away.
