I’m getting ready to jump into this with a Christmas gift pioneer unit. I have the same interface box as well. Couple of questions: how much, if any, plastic did you actually have to cut out? Does the chime still come through the speakers or the small chime box it comes with? Last one, does it work with the factory mic in the truck, or does it require you do an aftermarket one? Thanks for the great video.

Thank you for watching my video the chime come through the little chime box along with your turn signal click it's beat to take out the top part of the radio cavity to allow room for the unit to fit also when you wire up your harness do not I repeat do not send all 4 speakers through the harness bypass the box and use only the left through the box of the harness otherwise it will overload the module and shut down the radio and then it will reboot causing a headache in the long run and lastly you will need to use the nic with the radio as the harness doesn't retain the stock mic

Hey friend…have exact same truck and want to upgrade the factory radio. That whole PAC wiring harness-was that a required part or can I just use whatever hardware comes with Double Din receiver I buy?

there are a couple ways of connecting the radio to the truck but the best way is the pac harness although i can say from experience you are going to want to bypass all but the left front speaker on the harness

You have to buy an external tuner and transfer the subscription to that it's called am svx-300 tuner and is compatible with most name brand radios just make sure that you look to see if it says (Sirius XM ready) on the unit

So i have a 2012 chevy silverado, just bought a 7 inch touch screen double din non manufacturer specific. Question is this, I don't have a connector pack from stereo to track, as inharness. I do have the harness that plugs into the radio but the wires at the end are wires not plug amd play. Can I hard wire my truck harness to the radio harness with out fucking shit up? In short would this method work or should I shop around for a plug and play adapter from truck harness to radio harness???

Yes you can install the new radio with out getting the harness but you will loose the door dining and the turn signal click and you need to find keyed power for the red wire witch can be found in the power distribution box under the driver side of the dash it should be a pink wire but I would test it before you connect to it the rest you can get at the radio location the speaker wire colors are... tan (+) and gray (-) for the front left the front right is ight green (+) dark green (-) rear left is brown (+) and yellow (-) right rear is dark blue (+) light blue (-) good luck with your new radio

the pac rp5 is the harness and you don't really need it that gives you power to the red wire when you turn your truck on it also retains the warning chimes and your turn signal sound also. if you wanted to save some money you can find a switched power in the truck i know there is a junction box under the drivers dash you can get power from that will come on and turn off with the key (do at own risk) the red wire needs to go a switched power source one that turns on and off with the key

It worked ok for music but not to well for the android auto but I think that was due to a cheap cable so I made my own cable out of a dash mount usb and it works flawless I just used it this past weekend 7/9 it's not a specific part it was the oem usb for the truck and it is nothing but a mini USB if I didn't have an issue with my Android auto it would have left it

it is similar just the trim comes off differently it's like the radio install of a tahoe just when you remove the trim just use a panel tool and start on the side but be extra careful at the bottom of the trim they are held on by the same style clips as shown here and that plastic is kinda thin and will brake easy the clip is dead center of the bottom other then that the install is the same

it wasn't to bad after you cut out the dash you have more room to tuck the harness up in the dash but if you have a shallow mount radio then you have even more room behind the radio but other then that it's just matching color to color but with the rp5 harness if you do not bypass the the speaker out put it will shut the radio off so just connect all but the left front speaker (white and white\black) to the radio directly leave the left front going through the module for the onstar if you plan to use it

the harness pulls the constant 12v from the oem harness in the truck if you don't have 12v on the yellow wire then i would start checking fuses for the radio and if no luck you can go to the distro block under the drivers dash and get constant there good luck
