You're the only one who's put up an install video who installed the button in the tumbler location. And the code tab on is a great extra. 👍

I also have a Mitsubishi Lancer Ex. I was looking forward to install this PKE system, but i was afraid i couldn't get any video in which my car has been used. But here we are the same car, now i can do it very easily. Thank you for the video, it is very helpful indeed.

As a previous owner of one of these systems I found a few bits to be miss leading or missing. You didn’t explain how to hook up the door ajar/ open wires. Very important for programming. U can hook it up to ur dome lite. Then there is your key sense you disabled which can be hooked up to your ACC wire with a relay to reverse the polarity because some vehicles will not start without it. Also you didn’t state that there is a switch on the esaygaurd unit to go in between standerd or automatic transmissions mode. This disables the break wire for standards. And not everyone vehicles use the same door locks some are reverse polarity as well or double polled even but over all I have to Give you props for making the video just be more in formative about your information.

Man I wish the manual said that the dip switch disables the break wires... It just says switch it for manual cars. Took me an hour to find a good break wire to tap into today.

When you bare the wires, You should slip the Heat Shrink over a Wire, You should then solder the 2 wires together, Then pull the Heat Shrink over the joint and heat to shrink, Just twisting the wires together is definitely bad practice as they can still pull apart, Heat Shrink is only to insulate the wires so they do not short, They are not intended to hold the wires together. Your other option is the Red and Blue Bullet connectors where you put a part on both wires to be connected. This can be a better way if you ever intend to remove the system when you change your car.

  • @joekirby4529

Agreed. Solder or crimp connectors, just twisting is asking for trouble as the car vibrates.

Nicely made a video. You clearly know your way around a car, as well. I did question the lack of soldering, but you went on to explain the reason for that decision. I am wondering how you feel about disabling the steering column lock. It it a big deal to you? I'm undecided about doing this, myself. I own a 2006 Caddy CTS Sport Luxury edition and they have the same ignition switch issues and the Chevy Cobalt, as well as some other cars. The ignition key may turn off on its own while driving. As a result, the key must be kept separately from my other keys. Pain in the butt. Cadillac doesn't have a redesigned replacement ignition switch available to correct this issue. It seems that a remote start system would eliminate the problem completely. Thanks for the tutorial!

Hi, thanks for the video! Just wondering how did you do to be able to use the new key to open and close the doors? I mean, did you need to some kind of coding, or just when you connect all the wires it somehow link the locking system to they new PKE installation? Thanks!

Gabriel Chartier no its not, not by itself. When doing any sort of wiring on a car always use soldier. If you are using only heat shrink you are relying only on a twisted connection. There is not enough contacting surface to ensure proper connection. Soldier flows in between all the strands of the wire to ensure a complete connection.

I've got an outlander that had the smart key. It screws up a lot and the steering wheel locks and the fast key won't turn. It's the next best thing to push button start. You keep the fob, in my case, your purse, and you never have to see it unless you're changing purses. It unlocks the doors on second pull if the fob is near it and it starts if the fob is in the car. It has a switch though, as if it were a key. There isn't anything that goes into the ignition. There are buttons you can take the switch off. It's just a cap over it.

Also did you hook up the dome light trigger wire and does your dome light come on when you unlock the car ?

Car Insurance Cover-up matters across Europe so looking for ways to be aligned with after installation. The issue with locking steering wheel after turning off the key and leaving the car I figured out. Besides that who literally owns the key may also start the engine, one less problem I guess. From that point of view would everything be fine to me. But locking steering wheel concerns, though. These are my thoughts on that issue.
