For easy weight reduction on the MBQ platform Golf R and Audi S3 you can’t go past a lithium battery. We installed a light weight lithium battery on our friends MK7 Golf R and install is the same on our S3 or a Golf GTI. We used a Lithiummax battery with their optional mount. Thanks to Track Hack for showing us how its done.
For his Daily, Michael has since changed to the larger 900CA size battery but only gained 1kg by doing so.
The Eddy’s Garage is just a home garage maintaining and modifying our cars and some friends cars.

John this is nuts! Specially for the track days
Not clear which battery and which mount to select on the site. Is it the “Lithiumax NEW RACE9+ LCD 900CA ULTRA-LITE Engine Starter Battery - Pre-order” or “ Lithiumax GEN 2 RESTART9 LCD 900CA ULTRA-LITE Engine Starter Battery - Pre-Order”? And how come both are preorder if there is a GEN-2!!! In addition which mounting kit, is it the 450 or 850 CA?
Dose start stop feature work with this battery or 900CA one ?!?!
Anti gravity makes one too. No need for bracket

Most carbon bonnets are heavier than the stock alloy one so double check before you waste your money
Is this battery going to be fine in a harsh winter environment?

arjay crystal my winter is 25°c during the day so not something I have to worry about. You could always use a traditional battery if you have bad winters and use this Lithiumax during the summer track season.
I have heard that there is a new version of this lithium battery that solves the hiccups, is it correct? But this is embarrassing. Your battery guy started talking about RS3 (7:12) and ended up did not know where the battery is placed in a RS3.
What’s the part number or battery number so I can order it ?

Berns Tanteckchi they only have a few products. Just select the battery size then look for the matching bracket. jonathan alvarez this car is primarily a track and mountain road car so Fuel economy is not a concern. In fact on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is most important and 10 is least important, I would rate fuel economy a solid 12.
Is it work if you have start and stop?

My car had stop start and worked fine but you should deactivate it as it is known to cause turbos to fail but cutting their oil supply. Can cost a fortune in repairs if your turbo goes.
Looks sick but a bit too expensive for me for a little weight savings unless maybe you track it a lot. 600-800 for a battery hurts the wallet.

Jim that is Australian dollars. As the cheapest stop starting battery I could fine here was $550 it wasn’t much of a stretch to upgrade to this Lithiumax

The Eddy’s Garage Oh ok I don’t have stop start on my 15 S3. I just worry with smaller batteries how they will hold up with these cars using the batteries so much. They tend to drain them quick. Interested to see how yours holds up.
