I always follow the 180° template in all my parallel installations, I'll just increase the backcheck if I need to.

How would you patch that hole for a metal door?

For any type of hollow door, the best way to patch is by injecting expanding yellow foam into the hollow. Give it 24 hours to dry. Then scrap it off and sand it. If metal door, patch it with JB weld. If a wood door, any wood patch/spackle is fine. thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
