I find it incredibly ironic that I looked up "how to install a head unit," not even including a specific model of car and this video happens to feature my car. This should make my job a lot easier.

that's not what ironic means. Ironic would be if you researched tons of videos specifically looking for your model car, and you found every model except yours. That would be ironic. Pretty much the opposite of what happened to you.

I haven't switched out a stereo since the late 80's or early 90's. I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle any of the new stuff, but it appears to not have changed all that much. I don't know if the rest of your videos have the same production values, but you did a remarkable job on this one. It was laid out in an intuitive manner and standard terminology used is great for us lay people. Thank you for the post and it did it's job. I am going to look to purchase from you guys.

excellent tutorial video, I'd like to add that once you've connected the wiring and slid the head unit back into place, it's a good idea to test it before fully installing all the dash trim, it's a bit easier to find out if there is a problem and correcting it then, rather than completing the install and find out then that there is an issue, it is rare with a new stereo install but it does happen... especially test everything prior to completing the install if you're installing a used head unit or if you've later pulled out the head unit to make connections for an amp or other accessory, visually reinspect all your connections also to insure everything is still in good condition

A wire harness allows you to keep your factory wiring plug in case you want to put your stock radio back in. The wire harness that you get with the new radio is designed to wire up to a special wire harness adapter that connects to the factory plug in your car. No splicing and figuring out wires necessary.

Excellent tutorial, guys. Very helpful and great for saving money. But I actually have a question regarding your installation kits for the single DIN. I noticed you don't have any for Mazdas. Does that mean I can't install a single DIN stereo to my 2007 Mazda 6? Or would Mazda simply fall under the Ford category since they're built under the same design? Thanks for sharing this awesome tutorial!

Do all OEM radios have the orange/white wire so the LCD screen dims when I turn my headlights on? What if my OEM wire harness doesn't have the wire that will dim my LCD screen? I really want my screen to dim at night so the screen isn't so bright but I'm scared my stock factory radio (which is just like the one removed in this video) won't have that wire.

Graciel leal after some research, I think the harness adapter that you buy separately (specifically for your car) has the dimming wire and then you connect it to the dimming wire on the harness that comes with the double din. So it should dim

This is a very helpful video. It takes the mystery out of installing a radio. If I have problems, I will not hesitate to call the number given during the video. Good job!

Lots of good information , I live overseas....don't have the luxury of matching harnesses ...so I took it to a pro... he had it working 10 minutes but for some reason didn't connect rear speakers... I'm going to have to try and go it myself. Got an oil change and stereo install was basically free.. so I can't complain.

This is actually straight forward. Anyone can do this. I took my car to a local stereo company for a new head unit with apple car play, etc and they want $900 including the installation. Screw that!
