    I'm so glad you posted this video!! I couldn't get the cushion out of the cover and it needed to be washed, it's acrylic not leather. Luckily my son was able to get it out. After attempting once to get the cushion back in, after cleaning, I thought I'm going to check KZread and there was your video. It worked like a charm, however, getting the plastic out was no easy task. My cushion covers have little to no room to maneuver. It took me longer and more of a fight to do that, than get the actual cushion in...but, I finally got it done!! Thank you so much!!

    This worked like a charm! I couldn't find any single bag that was big enough, but pulling one on from each end and tucking one into the other gave me enough of a seal to vacuum out the air! This is clearly the right method. Thank you!

    I am absolutely speechless this is brilliant. I was excited when I just saw the image that appeared with the title in my search results list - “wrap it in plastic so it slides in much smoother.”” Makes perfect sense” and I didn’t even half to watch a video! But just as I was getting up To source out my plastic options, my eye caught the time length of your video and I was surprised to see how short it was vs. all the other results, so I decided to go ahead and give it a watch and boy am I glad I did. I am obsessed with vacuum packing anything I can to either save space or preserve freshness and to now add “stuff shit with ease” to my list of vacuum uses makes this video all the better! Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge in a straight to the point, step by step way and for taking the time to create and upload this.

    Awesome idea! I should have searched for this before inserting two out of five cushion insert replacements! I've stored pillows this way with special storage bags, so this makes a lot of sense! My cushions have springs inside, but the vacuum should help compress them well enough to use this method. Thanks!

    I have a couch cushion that needed some extra padding. It's a corner piece that's shaped irregularly and zipper doesn't go all the way across. Thought it was going to be an easy job until after taking out the cushion. Found many tips online like this one. Ordered some plastic film online. Wrapped internal cushion in film, used vacuum, got the size to come down...but the only way I could get the cover back on even when cushion compressed, was doing it inside out. Once I got it on, the vacuum overheated. Afraid of overheating my vacuum again while I try flip cover right side out. Seems like all the videos online about this are for easy regular square shaped cushions with the zipper going all the way across. Where are the videos showing irregular shaped cushions? Are they out there? Anyone have any additional tips for me to avoid burning out my Miel Vacuum? Do shop vacs work better?

    I have the same question as below...can I leave the plastic on the foam. The dust seems to be from foam deterioration, despite the fact the sofa is brand new.

  • @KevinGillan

    If you have "dust" on the foam core, wipe it down with a lightly damp cloth to remove the sust. It'a best to remove the plastic as the foam can breathe. If you leave the plastic in place, your likely to hear it "crinkle" when you sit on the cushion and you should allow the air to escape from the foam when you sit it the cushion.

    It's a large trash or lawn and leaf bag if your cushions are big. Nothing special involved here. I did this and it was FANTASTIC. Absolutely no hassle.

    They are available in all major box stores like WalMart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, etc. They are just large garbage bags. There is nothing special about them.

    These look more like dry cleaner bags than trash bags...seems all the trash bags are much thicker plastic. Besides, I can't get my arm into the slipcase once the mattress is in.

  • @KevinGillan
    @KevinGillan11 жыл бұрын

    If you can't reach it with your hands, then one strategy is to leave the plastic inside. It's not hurting anything to just leave it alone.

    Why not use silk film - this way you do not have to remove a plastic bag. The silk film stays and protects the foam from any spills.

    I just watched this 12 years later..... My wife and i just pulled all the cushion covers off our outdoor furniture to wash them. The whole time she was saying we'll never get these covers back on. At dinner, i said they must make a bag we could put them in and suck the down with our shop vac......( like those bags people use for packing luggage). Then i thought, how do we get the bag back out??? Then 2:35 i told her, I'm going on you tube..... boom!!! WTH. Sacrificial bag!!! Just rip it out!
