The amplifier is effectively working into a short circuit or at best an extremely low impedance at treble frequencies with that capacitor in parallel with the speaker and directly across the output of the amplifier. Running a transistor amplifier like this will eventually destroy the output devices. Did you not notice how distorted the sound was? Between the notes of the music you can hear this growling sound. This is the amplifier going into oscillation due to the capacitive load across the output. I would definitely not recommend anyone do this to their amplifier unless they intend on damaging the output devices.

@@suryaa6829 capacitors have a reactance (think of it like resistance but resistance that changes with frequency. The formula is Xc = 1/(2pi f C) where Xc is capacitive reactance in ohms; pi is approximately 3.1415; f is the frequency in Hz; and C is the capacitance in Farads. Now most audio amplifiers can amplify signals quite effectively to 20kHz which is the typical upper frequency limit of human hearing. Let's do the calculation of XC for a 1000uF capacitor at 20kHz. The reactance is 0.007958 ohms (That's almost a pure short circuit). What happens if you short circuit the output of an amplifier and apply a signal to the input? More than likely you will destroy the output devices. The correct way to limit the high frequency output of an audio amplifier to reproduce only bass frequencies is to filter it at the input where it will do no harm.

Almost it won't damage. But in rare cases it may affect the IC of the amp.

It's because you're shorting the high frequencies with the capacitor you added. If you want to remove high frequencies from your speaker you can add an inductor in series with the speaker, one that is high inductance and as low resistance as possible. An inductor's resistance will increase at high frequencies so there will be less power to the speaker from these frequencies. Low frequencies will not be affected so it will sound like there is more bass.

uhhh no... not if you have it set up correctly using a proper amp with proper crossover settings. Ps. you might want to get a bigger cap rated for a higher voltage and a lower ferret rating.

Maybe it will be wrong what I will write down now, but anyways, let me explain first, because I've tried this many yrs ago, yes it cuts the highs, but it loads the amp not correctly - exactly what showes the speaker's movement, so after mine attempt I started to investigate what caused this, and Just I am not sure for 100 percent if I understood everything correctly (if I am wrong, please correct me). A speaker itself is an unlinear load, a capacitor is a unlinear load too, but in this case it's load is unwanted, because it is a "non-reproductive" element. To eliminate this unwanted unlinearity, there is a need for an another unlinear load with opposite effect: this is exactly a coil - if the cap is wired in parallel with the speaker, then the coil needs to be wired in series with the speaker. If the cap have as big as capacity which causes "zero current shift", then it is OK, because the speaker itself have a coil - but as we can see on the video, it caused way too big current shift. So, to eliminate this wrong / non-linear amp load is a need for a coil which have as big as inductance which brings back the current shift to "zero" point - to the voltage's loadpoint (if I am right, this is one of the reasons why are ciols in crossovers: caps for filtering, and coils to make linear load of the "non-reproductive" additionl elements), then the amp will see a tiny additional "ohmic" resistance which in practice will have almost no sence, so the only non-linear load will be just only the speaker itself as in a normal condition...

The IC cannot tolerate it. So don't use this method. It may cause damage to your IC. You can low the capacitance so it will not produce heat but the base will be little lower

If cable connect direct to speaker there is no use of capacitor. Only if cable connect to capacitor that make sense.
