Honestly I have been riding the same 26” hardtail for the last 20 years (no joke) I have recently bought an amazing 29” Kona process and the difference can’t be measured. The hardest part this new bike is cornering. I was an expert with the 26” but the 29” full suspension is very tricky. I appreciate your videos and hope to see y’all in Alaska sometime soon. :)
You should do: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced versions of these how to's. Cater to all levels individually, as opposed to improving and, or adding to what you've already done previously. Just an opinion, not a criticism. Keep up the good work ! PeeeaCe

Down in the bushes, to another world
Rich carried a lot more speed out of that switchback, so I believe losing that 0.01s was worth it.
I enjoyed Rich’s comments. Good to have another racer and to see and hear the different opinions on the line.
Brilliant that you looked at three different corner types. Switchbacks have always seen me wobble out and nearly lose my balance and I think I instinctively brake - gotta resist that instinct !! Thanks guys
Enjoy you all so much. Love this MTB network. During this COVID 19 it's even more valuable
Great first vid Rich and very helpful for me. That corner you used for flat turns has been a real nemesis of mine. A friend has even shown me that line but I’ve still not done it, instead opting for the left-right-left line. I’ll definitely have another crack at it when I’m at Rogate next week 👍🏽
Really useful info for new mountain bikers. Thanks Neil.
Well done, Rich!! Welcome and thanks!
Really helpful new presenter is on fire!
So a flat corner with tons of bermy support in the middle, a bermed switchback and a berm then :) I still brake mid-corner - just can't stop myself :(

Slow down and look through the corner. Practice that first, then bring the pace back up once you get better at reading the corner.

Yes Rich!!! Time for GMBN to go truly Global at last! :D
I still find myself leaning back when doing berms and going into corners way to fast. As always, great video! 😁👍
Nice vid guys, thanks for that! 👍

Great, extremely helpful!
Nice looking forward for more tips Rich great presenter 👍 for sure
I usually can corner without a problem, but there's that one corner at our local pumptrack that I just can't do without steering off the track. Thank you for the tips lads!
Nice tips, gang. 👌 ... and congrats, Rich. You appear to be a natural at this presenting thing. Well done, 👍
Rich fits in perfectly on the channel. Good choice Play Sports Network!!
Another cornering video ! Just what i needed ! Lol
Love these videos, great knowledge ! Getting my 1st real MTB next week, Looking at a Fuji Nevada 1.3 HardTail. A lower end bike, but then again, I last road trails on a pieced together Huffy 38 years ago, Cant wait, Any comments on this bike and upgrades would be awesome, Ride on Guys!

Thanks for all your tips!, nice Doddy ending blooper
Go to Sydney, Australia and go to red hill bike park this is my local and even Matt Jones said it was good!
Thanks Rick, I like the explanation for the outside and inside pedal positioning in the turns. I found that while being a novice rider, this pedal position seemed counter intuitive. Over time I found that the outside pedal down, with the inside pedal up, did x2 things... 1. During the compression through the middle of the turn placed centrifugal force through the bike to the rubber more consistently because of the riders positioning. It’s a pendulum effect in conjunction with the centrifugal forces along the plane angle of the rider through the bike into and through the turn. 2. Allows the riders position to keep planted and articulated properly for the exit of the turn. I found it helps keep my head up and assists in the preparation of the next transition.... The more the rider practices angle vs speed in varying degrees of turns will increase their speed and overall commitment into the turns. Thanks!!

Great video Neil and new presenter Rich very useful tips 👍 #GMBN so when are you going to do another fastest presenter challenge?
I used to ride big motorcycles , if you use opposite steering to get your bike upright at the end of each corner you will be ready for the next corner quicker. You can use the same technique to enter a corner quicker as well but that’s advanced technique.
Well done. Looking forward to some new Presenter Challenges.
Good job new presenter you got a good team there 👍

Have y’all made a pilgrimage to Alaska yet? We have some great trails from Jun. - Aug.
Oooo Doddys exit looks familiar, I tend to end up that side a lot 😂😂

You should do a video on flicking the back wheel techniques on tight switchbacks.

As long as you can lift your rear wheel, they're really easy. Just make sure to not be too harsh on your rear wheel ;)

Good add for a new presenter. Good job guys! #askgmbn What do you guys think of the manual machines like what Blake built? Would this be a useful tool for learning manuals? I have a limited time on the trails and bike. Thinking during my down time I could just build one and practice? Thanks
Man rich is the best🥇
Hello, I still don't know how I should position my pedals through a berm, should they be level or outside pedal down?
Those are some beautiful trails!
He's gooooooooood!!!!!!
Entertaining video! But was that really a flat corner? It even had a berm to start with!
Wish me luck please, Im buying my first hardtail soon ❤️🙊

@@moodes070 Yes I also have a Trinx M136 and its pretty good. Don't know if it's trail worthy but decent bike for the price. I would say upgrade the fork cause the default fork sucks.
I hit a huge berm a couple of weeks ago I got my wheel up and over the berm but somehow avoided crashing
The biggest question on the switchback is who has the greater exit speed (I. e. who needs to pedal less) not who is the fastest through the turn

Nice one doddy..hehe
Is pumping the suspension harder recommended before practicing berms in a bike park? I lock out my suspension, but the ring still shows over 50% sag at the end of the run.
@l0renzz0
2 жыл бұрын
Wait, you lock you suspension and the ring still sags 50%? That should not happen
It depends on exit from corner. In some cases u have to take higher or lower ot depends
Nice to see that both lads are wearing watches in the same wrist!🙉🤣
Never get tired of seeing Doddi fall off in that first video of his. lol.
and how could you manage these turns without a dropper seat post on a ht bike?
I like the new presenter😜

He probably doesn't have any
I am now trying to improve my turning, but it only feels natural to lower my outside foot. Just as Neil does at 1:54, just a second before he explains how this shouldn't be done :D So which is right? Should or should one not lower his outside foot?
Winter in Canada means multiple feet of snow, ice, freezing rain, frozen and slippery dirt and unrideable trails
Still remember that one time i slipped at the bottom of a hill from like sufficient speed and had some skin sanded off that was the worst part for me
What are those trousers Niels wearing
Are all your POC visors crooked at GMBN?
Great presenter swap right there
flashback of dodie's crash is so good
Lots of Potential in those videos but i would have liked a little more Details. Or the entry and exit of the curves. I struggle most in connecting the various turns and obstacles rather than just doing them one by one. Still a big thanks though. Keep it going!
Why y'all wearing the watch on thr left hand? Any particular reason?
where are you doing your videos?
Rich is like a combination of Neil and Blake ahaha
Nice vid but in the flat corner part you used the upper banked part, that doesn't really help anyone with an actual flat corner 😉
Idk why but dropping my outside foot the slightest bit in a berm actually makes me go faster
OK, now here's a real problem I can't seem to overcome: uphill lefthand hairpin singletrack switchbacks, with prominent rocky exits. I have 3 of these on my regular trails and cannot seem to conquer them no matter what. HELP!!!
The new presenter is a fricken lord!
Thanks for the tips. Love GMBN. Come swing by so dirty productions . We’ll have a new video this week. Drops and ledges
The probably biggest mistake is braking in corners. Managing your entry speed and staying off the brakes during cornering results in a way faster exit and faster overall time. Just remind yourself, if you got traction for braking, you still got traction for harder cornering.
A wild #cathrovision influence appears 🤣
