I think the comment about how you don't notice grass growing a little every day is something I needed to hear. I've been feeling disappointed in my lack of progress, or how I feel like I'm regressing in areas, and when I'm feeling down it's hard to remember that every ride--even one you think is awful--makes you better and stronger and wiser. Thanks for the encouragement Tash!

I’m the same! My mare has a lovely canter but because we’re both weak on our left sides we struggle with right canter lead, as long as she gets it in the end I’m happy 😊

@@laureneales1671 I never lack confidence in the horses I ride that they'll get something eventually. Our instructor is great and can put them in situations where they have no option but to succeed, and they all have a lovely nature and want to do what you ask. It's me who's lagging behind the horse I ride lol He's turned from a western pony to a hunter in no time! Meanwhile sometimes I forget how many fingers I have X'D

Yes!! That's exactly it - you can't watch grass grow but if you look back a bit, you will realise how much it has grown!!

Actually that drifting to the outside is sometimes useful when you can’t get to depart on a certain lead, only that yo pick, the outside lead (in the middle,of, say, an 8 figure) and turn towards the outside. Also 1% every day will get you to 100% in 70 days (compound interest). Great video, Imlearned a lot, thanks.

Maybe practice half halting and rebalancing him? Or perhaps doing canter walk transitions? I would discuss it with your trainer when you can.

In my case this is something that you build little by little. You try to collect and go a bit slower w or e strides, then extend to medium canter. After 10 strides of medium canter you try another 3. In t months you should see a lot of progress. A law I. Physics is “the lower the speed the higher the pressure. At slow canter your horse is heavier towards the ground so it’s more difficult for him. It requires strengthening.

What I see: - dragging hindquarters (often the inside) - very often extremely behind the vertical - Tail slapping when the rider fails to sit or has a hard hand - crooked tail - the hindquarters do not step under properly - no flexion in the legs. The horse barely catches itself. - the rider often sits at a gallop with her shoulders very far back in order to balance the momentum. The horse does not dare to lift its back. - the hindquarters sticks out backwards and does not carry the weight effectively -... Yes there are positive aspects. But please remember, that this kind of modern dressage is NOT the way, how you can train you horse painless and healthy.

@@shell9403 using the flash for example, is useless and creates only pain. she is pulling too much on the reins and so on... remember that dressage means "training" and not "forcing"
