This is GOLD. Since you mentioned service companies we are dropping in here :) Sweven Immersive Studio, we pride ourselves on being a design-driven organization. We design immersive design solutions (AR VR MR/XR). And in XR Experience design is more important that anything else. We believe that the best results come from working with companies that share our passion for design and understand its strategic value. That’s why we carefully select a limited number of projects, collaborating exclusively with design-mature companies. All this because our founder is a designer :)

I'm truly glad you made this video, this question always bothered me and nobody had a clear answer. Thanks a lot. Connecting the dots to what you just explained, I recently interviewed with a big study abroad company and was given the take home assignment. Only the HR communicated with me-no one from their design team introduced themselves or discussed the assignment. It turned out they are no longer a design-driven company. Now lowkey glad they rejected me without feedback!

Great video! However, I disagree on one point. It is possible to find companies that truly value design in the early stages of identifying their value proposition and achieving market fit. Many UX methodologies, such as Google Sprints, are specifically designed to help companies evaluate their initial ideas. In my experience, these companies often continue to prioritize design in subsequent stages. On the other hand, some companies that were fortunate in finding product fit may attribute their success to the intuition of the founders or product managers, using design only for executing on features.

I don’t like to make content that as I don’t encourage freelancing. It’s honestly like cancer to a career. Freelancing on the side I’m always a supporter of. But until you build a really good skillset which takes 5-7 years, freelancing is as good as poison to your career.

Hi Chethan, Leaving Apple is a significant decision, especially since it’s a company revered by designers worldwide for pioneering user-centric design. Apple’s emphasis on design has made it the leading company in the world. Could you please share why you felt your career progress was slowing down there? Thanks!

Here is my story please give me your feedback. I am from a tier 3 college and want to make a career in design but I have no experience. It is very difficult to crack a big company or startup. so i am trying to find job in small agency or company in our city to gain some experience...But till datea in interviews I have given, the interviewer himself has no knowledge about design. Those people do not have knowledge of case study. they only need aesthetic design. they even don't ask me about my design process and decisions. 🤧 and at the end they rejects me just because i don't have unwanted colours and unwanted animation in my design

In my honest opinion, Crex lacks a lot of things that makes it a polished product. There are too many bugs, scrolling fees jagged and the design is a bit outdated. As I mentioned in the video, you need to follow the money to understand how much a company truly values a user experience. It's not just about UI but the flows and functionality as well. Crex makes all it's money from ads + there is a mega demand for the app. This means that customers will use the product no matter how poor the experience would be. I think there is great potential for Crex to be a world class app and would disagree that design takes a front seat.

While Crex looks and functions better than Cricbuzz, it’s not a very polished app imo. I just downloaded the app and signed in with Apple and the entire app froze. Not even making this up. App doesn’t feel very smooth. Feels buddy. Too many loading spinners. UI would could definitely improve quote a lot. Scrolling isn’t very smooth. Doesn’t seem to be personalised to you. My opinion on cricbuzz and crex are the same. I would not fully agree that design is at the front seat of crex, just like cricbuzz. Crex generates a lot of money through ads + insane market demand exists. Hence they can deliver something sub-par to users and can still grow and make money. Just try to analyse why they have so many users. There are plenty of sports app worldwide that look and function much better than crex.
