Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A small glimpse into identification of three types or tortoise. There are literally hundreds of tortoises in the world. This video shows three land tortoise varieties which are commonly found in Europe. Specifically in the UK in this case. The specimens are elderly long term captive females. Do consider Rehoming. Plenty of Eastern seeking homes in the UK. Especially with Norfolk tortoise club.

Interested in your video showing Turkish spur thighed and Algerian varieties. I wonder if anyone can help me ID my spur thighed tortoises? I would love to know the precise subspecies they are. Hope to hear someone willing to assist me.

Tortoise trust forum and tortoise club UK could give you a good idea of sub species.

Hello, by the way it’s great what you do do for these tortoises! Do you rehome any of these guys or do you just rescue them and keep them under your care? I would love to give an adult tortoise a better life as opposed to buying a hatchling. God bless.

Hi I have a adult female Herman that is fine in my garden and has been for 16 years . I think your information is probably the best and well detailed on KZread . I have just got a spur thigh baby about 4 weeks old . Not a sulcater . Just wondering how to feed her as she will be wintered indoors for 3 years . At the moment I am feeding curly kale watercress red chard . Rocket . All shop brought . But the more research I do the more I worry about the baby getting what he needs indoors. I don’t want to feed her on something that will not be good .I think I worry too much but better safe than sorry . She has dandelion leaves out the garden and clover.

Hi there are free feeding guides at tortoiseclub.org checkout health tortoise food info sheet particular and the young tortoise guide. I would cut out kale but everything else you mention along with fluid, humidity, nutrobal, calcium and lighting will all help. I do have a setup guide for young tortoises on my channel too. Hope this helps.

Hi is you bought a tortoise as a captive bred in the UK. If not from a specialist he is likely a spur thigh turkish ibera. Algerian whitei and Morrocan were imported before the ban in 1984. Very few people breed and sell them and if they do they are more specialist. Gracea is the Latin but when it comes to cities all spur thighs are listed as Gracea. If you would like to learn more about the gracea varieties I show the massive range in my PowerPoint talk, but you can also ready more by visiting the tortoise trust website :) hope this helps.
