THANKYOU SOOO MUCH. When I started practice tattooing with your first method because my mentor told me so, it feels horrible. the grip is not stable, my hand is shacking, the result was disappointing. And then I find your video, the way you hold your tattoo machine is the way I normally hold my pen and that's my forever comfort zone.

I’m currently in my apprenticeship and the middle finger method instantly helped me with lining so much when I used it. But I use this other method for basically everything else; shading, packing, etc. Love your videos dude! They’ve helped me so much!

Thank you for your tips. I've got an A level art degree and I took it with a tattooist that wanted to go on after the 18 month every day course and train me to tattoo and work in one of his shops. Sadly I never took his offer. He always used to say that I would be able to do it. I've just bought a decent wireless, and after a few tips by yourself it feels natural to me. So I'm going to keep on with it on my skin pads and see how it goes. I appreciate your advice so far and will be looking back on your site and hopefully become better for it. This will be the first time I've ever used a tattoo gun.

Another great content, the way you explained can be understood by the simplest and one who are new to tattoos, the way we hold our machine changes as we progressed, Ed Hardy and other pioneers of tattoing holds their machines almost as they woulfd a pencil wuthva tiny grip, but that's not for us, as you've always mentioned tsttoing is subjective, to each their own, but with the new age tattoo pens, the way you hold it just feels right if you've had experience with the middle finger method, i give this video a 5 star and 2 thumbs up, reasoon why when yoy tattoo a real skin, the middle finger method isn't always applicable, you might even be capable of tattooing with your left hand, your progressiveness is mind f****, and your ambition, dedication, diligence and hard work pays off, a genius at content creation, RESPECT Brother 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Thanks, great advice as usual. How do you go about going over a spot that has a bunch of details and the stencil spreads . Sometimes you have to get a busy spot and once you lift your hand it's smeared but if you hovered your hand to not touch the stencil it the lines would be shaky!

I noticed that the ball of my thumb starts hurting a lot after a while when practicing, is this normal for beginners? Is there anything that I need to change like loosening my grip or increasing/decreasing the amount of grip tape wrapped on my machine? Great video btw! Will definitely try this out as I am still trying to get used to holding my machine. :)

Hahaha William you are a funny guy! I feel there isn't a right or wrong way to hold a machine. I feel like if the artist is able to produce good results with the current posture and holding style who is to say otherwise, you know? If it ain't broken don't fix it haha/ I have seen all types of holding styles and postures and I don't ever think that it is wrong but more so try to understand why an artist may make certain choices. I am always looking for ways to resolve issues I experience when tattooing. Thank you for your continued time and support William! I appreciate you.

I’m in dire need of help here, I’ve seen most people say you should tattoo on a 90 angle or 45 at most, but ultimately 90 is the most optimal and so on, as I see here you’re holding it at like a 60ish? Is that correct? Because that’s the way I kinda feel comfortable too but the 90 angle thing is making me so anxious

Hello, how are you? I was watching your video of your new position or grip of the machine. The truth is I'm trying to adopt it to be able to draw good lines. I'm having problems now with the drawing of the line. I feel that my hand doesn't flow. There's no depth consistency when pulling one. line, could you help me by sending me good photos of how you grip the machine as it looks, supporting your fingers on the cartridge and on the canvas, I just want to adopt your grip perfectly since the video does not show very well the angles of how you grip the machine as it should look. my hand perfectly

Me personally I don’t encourage riding the tube or anything to this extent and for a couple reasons I can think of. It’s messy, hard to see and may cause more pain because we have the tip of the tube rubbing against the skin. I would encourage to practice and develop on fake skin to be able to float the tip of the tattoo needle over riding the tube.
