Thanks for the feedback, but I don't have a Gopro camera right now. A gopro camera is my little dream, and I plan to buy one in the future. I tested such a camera a bit, and it was an interesting experience. Of course, the time that I have used this camera is not enough for me to give advice to others, sorry.

if I only wanted the object highlighted for a short part of the clip, say in the beginning, I assume then I just remove the mask in the duplicated video at the point I wish?

If this is a small part of the video, then making a mask on the entire video does not make sense. You need to make a mask only where necessary. For example, you have a video of 10 seconds and you need to select the object that is on the video for the first 5 seconds. You duplicate the video and crop it to the first five seconds and put a mask on this small segment. This way you will get the effect you need only in the first five seconds, and the rest of the video will be original.
