Open the Facebook app
Tap the profile icon
Scroll down and Tap Edit Public Details
Scroll down and Tap Edit Your About Info
Scroll down and Tap Edit next to Basic Info
you have to change your age more than 13 and less than 18.
Tap Save

Let’s hide the message button on Facebook.
But there is no option to hide the message button on Facebook so here is the trick
if you can set your age as more than 13 and less than 18, the message option disables automatically
I know That looks like easy, but you have to do that according to Facebook policies So I suggest you watch this full tutorial
to start open Facebook app
Then tap the profile icon
Then scroll down and tap edit public details
Now to scroll all the way to the bottom and tap edit your about info
Again scroll down and tap edit next to basic info
all right here is the most important thing
Keep in mind you have to set your age more than 13 and less than 18
Because according to u.s law, if you are under 13, you can’t have a social media account
Then Facebook automatically disables your account, and also if you don’t submit valid documents, your account will be disabled within 30 days
To reactivate your account, you have to submit a photo of your ID, and aslo that recovery process takes much time.
So I am telling you again and again don’t set your age less than 13
simply your account is gone

Here I set my age as 14
It is much butter if you can keep it as private
Now you have to save these changes
but another two limitations
First, this doesn’t work if another guy is already in your friend list, so still, they can message you
The second thing is Facebook limits the number of times you can change
your birthday within a certain period of time

How did that help? I didn't want to change my DOB...as your title states, I want to remove/disable options to message.
I still can't hide the message button
i didn't try his tutorial but this will work i guarantee you, i tried this trick once I add 2004 as my birth year and this year i just turned 18 in Facebook and the message button came back. This video is somehow informative
