Thank you so much. Result, one lively, healed duckling. Plus one bloody arm from chick mum who didn't appreciate the fact I was helping, not murdering her baby. Barbara

Thank you Anne. I'm really happy you got something out of it. Your kind words of appreciation make the effort of shooting and editing the clip worth while.

Could you please do a follow up with how to tape over the back? our goslings legs keep slipping behind them like you showed in the video and we have tried taping a few ways over the back but it hasnt helped.

Sure Anne. For now get the patient and tuck his legs in under him in their natural position as if he was just sitting down chilling out. Just wrap tape right around him over his back nice and snug so his legs are held in the correct position. You need to get on this as soon as it happens because the longer his legs are in the incorrect position the greater the chance that's the way they'll stay. Just tape him up with his legs in the correct position. I haven't got any small birds I can demonstrate this on for you at the moment. When more hatch I will.

I have a 6 week old Chinese goose that was growing very rapidly more than his hatch mates that is lame now that my care taker discovered when we were out of town a couple days. I am keeping him inside and adding niacin and giving him pool therapy 2x a day and prop him up so he can practice standing. I don't know what else to do.

I have a Muscovy female about 7 months who didn't show splayed leg until 7-8 weeks, and it happened fast. Only sign of trouble was an infected eye when she was a few days old. She comes from a large duck farm, with lots of non restricted mating etc. She is still hanging in there with lots of support. I can feel her legs, pop every time she is trying to use her legs in bathtub.. . Any advice? Culling is last resort

Hi there - thanks for this video. Could this still work if the gosling is a couple weeks old is heavier/bigger?

Hi! My duckling is 2.5 weeks old and his right leg has been poking outward and he doesn’t walk on it for the past 3 days. I put a splint on him today to bring his legs together and they keep going behind him like you showed. I just pick him up and fix the position every time. He hasn’t been walking at all and he hates having it on his feet, he’s barely been eating and drinking too! Only a bit. Please help!

You probably won't see this, but I've got a day old gosling hatched by a chicken. Sadly one egg broke and covered him in yoke I tried cleaning him off but has still got dried yoke on him. Thinking in the morning bringing him indoors a soaking in the sink to get the rest off. Any ideas?

Please don't use tape!!! Get some gauze bandage, then a layer of the self stick medical bandage. The feathers, even fluff is important to protect.
