PUFA Protect (Vit E): www.mitolife.co/collections/mitolife-products/products/pufa-protect
Polyunsaturated fats aren't compatible with the high temperature, high oxygen environment within our bodies, and they have an accelerating effect on the stress metabolism.
Not only that, but their breakdown products are similar to the breakdown products of alcohol, which are the ones responsible for the hangover after a night of drinking.
Truly, many people eating lots of polyunsaturated fats are living with a PUFA hangover, and don't even know that there's a better way of feeling.
This video dives into a deep understanding of how this all works, with expanded insight and practical takeaways.
Hope you enjoy it!

    @@gandharbx They're rich in vitamin E *because* they have PUFA. The vitamin E is a protective agent for their proper functioning, to prevent peroxidation. Whole food sources can be okay in moderation, since they come with vitamin E, but the concentrated sources like vegetable oils should definitely be avoided. I'd still stick to non-PUFA sources mostly if you think you still have a lot of PUFA to detox from your system.

    I detoxed my pufa to the point of being clinically efa deficient and had chronic eczema. The eczema was debilitating but i was so infatuated with the dogma that ray peat prescribes that i was trying everything else, increased thyroid, vA, vB6 etc and was doing it all perfectly and then whilst on a microdose of lsd had the realization that hes just another bard of the nutritional community, that while is innocent and creative, shouldnt be worshipped or idealized and even says so himself. After doing some research and reading thru his sources (which are often misquoted) and opposing resources, ive come to the conclusion that PUFA are essential in small amounts, and that all proof he uses citing studies looking at acrolein and lipofuscin etc all talk about pufa in abundance. After installing a mere 6% of my kcal from pufa my eczema went away, my thyroid hormone increased actually, my temps and pulse increased slightly, my digestion improved etc and i stopped taking any grains of thyroid. I think his mead acid theory is just that, a theory, and i dont think even ray gets zero pufa with the amount of arachidonic acid in liver, egg yolks and other staples of his, with even OJ having significan amounts of pufa in it. Just my 2¢, i still think this video is more helpful than not as a prescription for those who eat way above the small amount of pufa i do deem to be necesarry

    Very interesting! Awesome comment. You're spot on about not worshiping Peat and his ideas - his work is a huge step forward, but it's never meant to be a stopping place. Can I ask, what did your diet look like to get PUFA deficient? How did you know you were PUFA deficient? I love hearing about personal accounts in trying different diet experiments. I also agree that in the practical world, it's next to impossible to avoid all PUFA, and even in the abundant state, animals would still get a small amount. The real issue is with getting too much and in unnatural forms, like consuming vegetable oils and taking fish oil supplements, etc. As described in the video, as long as it isn't exceeding the ability of your antioxidant system, then you won't experience the negative side effects.

    Top video again! Big question regarding fat loss: Do we have to be in a caloric deficit for fat loss or does a high carb low fat diet suffice for metabolic speed up and hence fat loss?

  • @AmplifiedVitality

    @AmplifiedVitality

    4 жыл бұрын

    Theoretically you wouldn't necessarily need a calorie deficit if you were able to export fat into cholesterol to be used and excreted. However, in the real world, I think you end up creating a calorie deficit if you're losing weight. The question is, are you eating plenty of food and putting your body into a warm, healthy state while you eat slightly less? Or are you starving yourself and barely eating anything at all? The higher carb approach - and especially higher sugar approach (which has been shown to allow a much higher calorie intake without weight gain) - will allow a much better hormonal and physiological state, that will help facilitate fat loss. But most people won't have perfect carb utilization, and so will turn some into fat, hence the need for a slight calorie deficit in the practical world. But of course, the higher carb approach is going to be better regardless, and you probably won't feel that it's hard to lose fat at all.

    Yes, it can definitely help! In fact, fructose has been shown to speed up the liver's ability to process alcohol, so consuming some fruit juice before bed after a night of drinking should be helpful. Saturated fat is also important for protecting the liver, which is why you crave fatty foods when drunk.

    It seems a small amount of DHA (omega 3) and AA (omega 6) might be necessary, but I don't think it's anything to specifically add in. Unless you're doing a completely zero PUFA diet for a very long time, it shouldn't be an issue. But it's probably best to limit all PUFA sources, but no need to go crazy about it imo. Olive and avocado oils are certainly okay, but not optimal. I'll eat chips cooked in avocado oil if that's my only option (for example), but coconut oil, lard, and butter are far better options. Now, this is just talking about the OILS. Whole avocados and olives are much better, because you'll get all the nutrients and fiber that come along with them, instead of the extracted, concentrated oil. In general, MUFA are certainly okay, I just think that emphasizing saturated fat is more important, and if you do that, you'll end up getting some MUFA anyway.

    This may be true, but it's also likely a function of simply being more exposed to PUFA. In the triglyceride form they are relatively stabilized, so if the body's antioxidant system and liver can't handle the ROS load from PUFA, it makes sense that it would store them in fat cells until it could better handle them. Aging is always about moving into a stress state, or a state of higher likelihood of stress.
