How to handle highlighting in Power BI using Deneb

Ғылым және технология

The cross-highlighting and clicking to highlight of visualisations requires a little bit of extra work when you use Deneb in Power BI.
This video shows you how to set it up and also how to take it a bit further to give you functionality that you don't get with your standard Power BI visuals.

Ohhhh, this one is super cool. Just gave me an idea for a timeline slicer we've been missing since Datazen went away.

Thanks, yeah I really enjoyed this one. There's a lot of cool stuff you can do. Almost only restricted by your imagination really!

Really like your stuff on Deneb, I started using it about the same time as you and you have been a big help. One thing I am currently struggling with in Deneb is switching the datatype when using calculation groups to switch a measure. In a normal visual the datatypes work perfectly but I have not figured out how to dynamically change it with vega lite. Any thoughts on sometimes showing a number vs. a percent?

Thanks, great to hear! You can handle switching between data types using a transform. It's a easier to do if you change based on the value, though it can produce occasional errors. This is one of the next videos I'm working on once I have corrected it, so hopefully I'll have something to help you in the next few days. :)

I have a deneb map coloured in the red scheme based on a measure value. Can I apply this using the colour scheme?

Could you make the highlighted colour based on the team's brand?

Very cool idea. Absolutely. As you have complete control of the colours, as long as you know the precise hex code, which isn't difficult to find out, you could definitely do this. I like it!
