Today we discuss all things thyroid with my friend and thyroid pharmacist, Izabella Wentz.
What we cover:
- What the thyroid does and how it gets dis-regulated
- How to mitigate or eliminate panic attacks, anxiety, and depression by healing your thyroid
- The best labs to run to get a proper diagnosis and what the ranges should be (hint: most people’s lab work comes back “normal” yet they feel terrible and have been likely building Hashimoto’s and autoimmunity for years)
- Medication comparison of Synthroid, Armor, Naturthroid, and WP Thyroid
- Why Hashimoto’s is truly a whole body condition
- The thyroid-gut connection
- The top 3 thyroid foods to avoid and the Top 3 to consume

Great info! Hashimoto's can ravage your thyroid for years and you won't even know, if your doctor is only checking a TSH

I have lost the last 19 years of my life never being controlled on synthroid. The diagnosis came after a non producing tumor took over my pituitary gland. I now I have adrenal fatigue from it. I was fortunate that I was diagnosed over 17 years ago, but I have never felt normal again. I can not lose weight, get rid of stress, migraines, etc etc. I am on several supplements that are finally giving me hope. I meditate every night which has helped me. I have been through the "your thyroid is normal The TSH never went bad until last year. My anti thyroid antibody was way out of whack at the time of diagnosis

Would be good to provide Dr. Izabella’s information in the info box, so we don’t have to go searching back through the video to find it. Enjoyed the information, though! Thanks!

What do you think about the bovine based glandular supplements? I don't have insurance and I want to try taking one.

I live in New Zealand and many women here take bovine thyroid with no issues at all. There is a US company called Thyrovanz that gets their raw material from NZ cows and makes it into pills, look them up. It's affordable and a lot of people over here are switching to it due to the rise of prices of porcine dessicated thyroid meds. Funny how you can't buy it directly here, you need to order it online from the States :)

it's a super important topic...unfortunately, no one ever really addresses the issues vegans have with following the hashi protocol...I'm trying to heal my systemic candida, hashimotos and depression on a vegan diet...losing my mind trying to figure out the right protocol..

I was a strict vegan for 25 years and i feel like that is why I got this condition in the first place. It was a tough choice for me to end being a vegan, but I went on a ketogenic diet and immediately, I started to see a reversal of symptoms and numbers got better. That may just be my experience. I now find that the vegan diet is too high in sugar and starches for me (grains, fruits, legumes) and that is why I got candida which started my whole gut flora issue which started my autoimmune issues.

Doctors just don’t understand this disease. Most don’t even believe in this disease. Several doctors insisted it was non sense. She was diagnosed 16 years ago. It has become worse every year. I have been watching my wife fall apart for 16 yrs with this disease. No one has been able to help her. She has been to several doctors and naturopaths and no one has helped. She is now basically non functioning. It is very sad. I am feeling hopeless along side of her. They just cant seem to do anything to help. Diet, supplements, synthroid levels adjusted. Nothing helps. We are going to a new naturopath armed with lots of info from Dr. Orecchios video. Maybe? Hopefully someone can help this time? We are desperate. My wife can barely function. It is very sad.

Robert Smicz ok you're going to think I'm crazy and probably won't be open to this because so far no one I have told to try this have been willing to give it a try. Five months ago I went to what seemed like my 100th doctor to figure out what' was wrong because I was slowly getting to the point where I could not get off the couch, felt awful after 8 to 10 hours or more of sleep I felt like I had not slept at all. My doctor ran a bunch of test that said I was healthy, and charged me more than $3000 after insurance. When I asked him then why do I feel like crap he asked me if I was depressed and he told me I probably need to talk to a psychiatrist. Out of desperation I went on KZread and saw Dr Jennifer Daniels talking about turpentine and sugar. I had bought some about five years ago but was too scared to use it. After getting zero help from my doctor and paying him a boatload of money only to have him try to convince me my poor health was all in my head I figured what the heck I feel like I'm dying anyways at least I won't be suffering and it will cure or kill me. I took one teaspoon of turpentine with one tablespoons of sugar every night the first week. The second week I took it every other night. The third week I took it twice a week which is the way she tells you to take it. I have been gluten free for about 15 years and it helped a little but not really. Since using the turpentine and sugar and and coffee enemas a couple of times a week my energy is so much better. I have always eaten a healthy low sugar and process food diet with the best supplements I could find and nothing helped. Now I jogging a couple of times a week, lift weights, and do high impact Zumba class. Now when I wake up I actually feel like I got some sleep and I feel better than I have in years. Oh yeah I have been losing hair for more than 20yrs and now I lose around 10 to 20 a day, this is after every doctor I saw told me it was, their catch all for everything STRESS, or heredit. A ell that's my story hope your wife is open to it and not suffer another five or more years like I did out of fear. I also take a food based multi vitamins and minerals, probiotic, sea kelp, magnesium, chloropphyll, and HCL.
