All fast food is the same, most have a microwave they call cute names like the primer, the hopper, the warmer ECT ... These days it's usual and customary to heat things up really hot before wrapping and sending out depending on the restaurant as to what the microwave is called. From IHOP to Olive garden to to dairy Queen even burger king

Most fast food places dont keep food longer than 30 minutes before being told to remake it fresh and things like fries get replaced even sooner because they get soggy so you are supposed to make a new batch every 5 minutes

As a former McDonald's employee, I can say that no one ever listened to the "fresh fries" option. We also always had an unsalted batch of fries on standby, so really, the unsalted fries were the oldest ones

Pro tip for the fries: they will never be old at all. At least where I worked there was a policy that fires could only be out of the deep fried for 13 minutes before they had to be thrown out. This almost never happened because someone would always show up every few minutes. Please don't order no salt unless you actually don't want any salt.

Fun fact, that's because one batch of fries is only enough for 3 large fries, so during a rush we're constantly making fries to keep up with orders. Thus, they're always fresh when we're busy.

As a former McD’s worker don’t do the no salt thing. We had to make a fresh batch but also keep it separate from all the other fries. Just order them fresh and they’ll do it for you no problem.

As someone who works fast food also we just throw the fries that are salted back in the oil so in the end you get the same fries that were already sitting there. People in fast food know all the tricks so yes it’s better to just ask for fresh fries because if you try to pull one of these ‘hacks’ on us we know exactly what you’re doing and we’ll just throw the fries into the oil for like 5 seconds and then pull them out and serve them and if we really wanna be petty when you ask for salt on the side then we’ll say the store is out so in the end just ask for fresh fries trust me we won’t be mad or upset if you do.

​@@christinejohnson3291 When I worked there, it was a very small location, so I made sure to always tell people who asked for salt packets with no salt fries that we were out of salt packets. I would offer to go get the shaker and fill a chicken nugget box with salt, but nobody ever accepted.

Something that needs mentioning: McDonalds usually charges for mac sauce. You might get away with it at some locations but most franchisees will charge for it when substituing with ketchup and mustard.

The unsalted fries thing used to annoy the hell out of me when I worked at McDonald's. You don't have to ask for unsalted to get fresh fries, you can just ask them to make them fresh and they have to. At my store you could not deny a customer who asked for fresh fries to be dropped.

People who don't work or never worked at a restaurant thinking this works. This isn't always true. At chickfila they sell so many fries their is no reason to order no salt and if the fries were there for 5+ minutes then they are trashed. Also the heat lamp thing is just to keep ordered food warm. Usually the food isn't stocked up in the heat lamp shutes

McDonald’s worker here. Only the patty sits under the lamp, customizing it won’t change the temp of the burger. We do make a fresh batch when someone orders no salt fries, and sometimes it happens with tie patties if we’ve run out. Another note about freshness, the quarter pounders are pretty much the only thing cooked to order, that’s why they take so long. It’s the only thing I’d actually recommend to people when that ask about the freshness of the burgers.

The fresh burger method does not work at mc Donalds in the Netherlands anymore, they have the paties baked and sitting under the heat, then when you order they assemble the burgers with any customisations you may want

At McDonald's, ask for something "Cook to Order" they will make a brand new burger/fries/anything. There's no "sandwiches under heat lamp" there's meats in a heating chamber. For example, if you ask for a normal cheeseburger, you're not getting one that's already been made. You're getting one where the bun has freshly been toasted, everything was freshly put on, but (unless you're lucky and it's a fresh batch of regular meat) a regular meat Pattie is taken from the heated drawer of meat. Ask for it "Cook to Order" and the meat cooker, person on grill, will make a fresh pattie just for you. It will be like it's right off the grill.

As a fast food worker myslef, we are not supposed to make new fries for every person that wants them unsalted, you can order it, they may say they'll do it, but they wont give you, espetially since the fries are meant to be thrown into garbage after making a new portion, therefore being food waste if everyone did that, so as much as people do that, it mostly won"t work
