Amaranth or spinach is one of the most nutritious plants, The leaves are high in protein and rich in many Vitamins and minerals , as well as beta-carotene,iron, calcium and fiber.

how to plant :
1- claimant and soil
Amaranth is adopted to all type of soil and thrives very well under hot and humid climates . while it will tolerate almost any soil . yields increase with additions of compost or well-rotted manure .
Amaranth is slow starter ,but once it gets going it will out compete most weeds.
2- Sowing and planting
Amaranth seeds are extremely small, so sowing them too deep can delay and decrease emergence , make sure the soil is finely prepared . the tiny seeds after bulking with sand to improve distribution , are sown directly into furrows. cover, then pack the furrows with soil to assure good seed-to-soil contact . water liberally but carefully to avoid disturbing the soil and displacing the seeds .
the seeds germinate in two to three days after sowing .
3- Harvesting
Amaranth should be harvested at 3-4 weeks, when the
plants have attained 20-25 cm in height ,Harvest the plant every three to five days by cutting near
the base or pulling them out with the roots intact.
4-Pests and diseases
Caterpillars often attack the leaves . pick them by hand when spotted . the plant is generally quite free from disease .
