HOW TO GROW SPANISH MOSS | Tropical plants

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Spanish Moss can add a tropical or "Southern" feel to any yard. Here's a look at the plant and what I have done in my yard with it. Enjoy!
BTW- Please check out my other channel: Jupiter Inlet Boats and subscribe. It's a new channel and it takes a lot of time and effort to film the boats so I would appreciate the support.

I live in Charleston,SC. I got my Spanish moss from a local park. I wrapped it in a rock and tossed it to a branch on my 85 year old live oak in my garden. In the Spring time, the birds would use the moss to build their nest while the falling moss would spread throughout the massive tree. Right now, it looks absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing!

I live in Perth West Australia, and I adore this Spanish moss and have it everywhere. As we don’t have a continual humid climate, I mist mine every second day, and I’m getting multiple plants. I also have many tillandsias and bromeliads . Love them all. Thanks for sharing your amazing property.

SO COOL.. since we moved from Connecticut to Panama City in 17 (we have relatives in Alabama) finally now in Melbourne (the prior owners planted almost nothing leaving us a clean canvas) In our travels we've fallen in love with the look of Spanish moss. A recent trip to Eustas & DeLand for construction work i was treated to sites of real breath taking properties. so my new goal is to bring some of that wonderful look to our place. I hope some day we make it to Jupiter im sure your place is as inspiring as it is beatiful.

I saw on some internet you can grow hanging baskets of Spanish moss . It was really beautiful, graceful ,and dramatic. So I do live in Central Florida and we have lots of Spanish moss but I do not have a tree in my yard so I go out and gather it where I can. I made my own wire baskets and plan to fill each basket so I can hang them filled with Spanish moss from different plant hooks around my yard. I have seen where it will grow just hanging on a fence . It will grow in oak trees but not palm . It will completely kill crepe myrtle trees so I would advise anyone to remove it from them . I lived in south Georgia for 30 something years and we had lots of Spanish moss there.

*California* I got mine from family who live in San Diego, and they spray theirs every other day +/- with a garden hose-soaking it-while watering their flowers & various other plants. It has been thriving there for many years this way. Years ago, I had brought some back with me to the Central California valley area, but I couldn't keep it alive through the first summer, where 110°F is a normal temp (partly due to its placement, because it got too much sun). I just got another batch (Aug 3rd), and (fingers crossed 🤞) I'm hoping to keep it alive! Half will stay inside (bathroom), & half outside. We will see which half thrives! 👍

@@RichardSites Great to know! So many people are adamant that watering them is a bad idea, but I suspect that those people don't take into account the growing location's climate!👍 For instance, I also realized that mine must be watered daily, and I've even taken to misting now & then, when it looks particularly dry. The entire batch is still indoors, because I wanted to allow it time to acclimate to its new location & new water source. I might be a bit overprotective... 😆 Love your channel, my friend!👍 If you haven't uploaded a new Spanish Moss video since your move, I'd encourage you to do so! I am keenly interested in your new care habits.
