If you want to take it to the next level, look up "cloning mushrooms from store bought" cloning them allows you to take the biggest and best mushoom from a bunch and copy ONE fruits genetics. You can take a biopsy of a fruit and make liquid culture, and have essentially an infinite supply of "seed"

Actually this video is a terrible video and but a great tease. Only good if you do further research. The dialog of using the "fluzzy white where mycelium is stored" ends of the mushroom doesn't match the video where the whole mushroom is just being chopped. "Growing mushrooms is a simple natural process that can become complex . . ." Yeah, especially if you watch this video and don't get it. I actually think the "fuzzy ends" the narrator is talking about are the earth-most stem end of the mushroom closest to where the mycelium would be, but I am not completely sure. It would be an exciting experiment. Instant Pots or other e-pressure cookers are excellent for sterilizing medium. I would add some azomite and/or oyster shell lime, the lime especially if using coniferous wood shavings or sawdust pellets. Many mushrooms will only grown in non-acidic, i.e., non coniferous wood product, so you might want hardwood pellet stove pellets. Probably good to research portabella's growth medium needs. I do like the big portabellas better than oyster mushrooms.

The video gets a 3 out of 10. The translations to English were not always quite right. I laughed when it said you can compost with hamsters. I mean, sure I guess 😅 It also took a VERY long time to get to the point, and and spends too much time advertising unnecessarily about Portobello mushrooms instead of showing how to grow them. It would have been better if the actual method of growing was shown instead of stock footage of people cooking with mushrooms. i read, they will continue to produce mushrooms for up to 6 months. . but each time will be less. Also, continue adding fresh manure ever two weeks or so. that will give them food and energy to keep producing.

I'am growing shrooms and it is not so easy as U say. When cloning shroom u need to be sterile cuz u can grow mold or bacteria. But on yt there is much more better tutorials about that.

Kinda sorta. I've watched videos where they were very lax and others where they were OCD about sterilization. Sometimes they start out wearing gloves and washing with alcohol and later they're using bare hands and unsterilized instruments. IMHO the growth is most vulnerable in the beginning. As the mycelium spreads it becomes harder for a foreign pathogen to succeed. I practiced medicine for over 40 years. The one thing I absolutely believe in to prevent infections is "wash your hands".

Yes. I save one mushroom at the end and chop the whole thing up, put the pieces in a blender, add water, and create a slurry to pour on the substrate.

I need to amend my original comment. Since the reproductive material is not in the caps (except spores), I'm now using stems. I focus on the stump end because that's where the the roots come out. So if you want mycelium that's where a lot of it is.

you do have to sanitize your tools. You will also have to pasteurize the substrate and clean the mushroom farm. If you don't do all this then other fungi may grow and you might not see mushrooms.

What I have learned is that caps and stems can both be used. We aren’t concerned with getting spores while doing this, the mycelium grows from the tissue of the fruit body (mushroom). Fungi are marvellous creatures!

You can also grow them at home. Step 1. Redirect your sewage drain into a shaded area in your yard. Step 2. Add leaves, grass clippings. Step 3. Throw in a few store bought mushrooms. Step 4. Now wait for the bountiful never ending flow of mushrooms. Step 5. Get a bag to put all the money in.
