I know most people talk about the peppery flavor I find it more similar to the flavor of horseradish. Especially in the stems of the flower. Love it. This plant has been a Godsend for me. As with some plants, the stems are sometimes to chewy and hard to break down. Not that way with nasturtium stems. They chew up so easily and therefore easily digested. There are so many uses for this plant. I used it for a lung and bronchial condition. I can't even begin to tell you how much it's healed me. I was at a very scary point and we all need to learn more about all the wonderful things God has given us on this Earth. It's truly wonderful.

Oh yes, so true! I failed to mention the fragrance. I grew one variety last year which was sooo fragrant. It smelled just like roses. Most of mine did not have such a strong smell. Of course I did not label the particular variety, so I do not know whaich one it was!! haha - I'm trying again this year and hope the same one regrows (mixed pack of seeds).

Here is a suggestion. Place seed on a cotton ball, get it wet/damp. Place in baggie and wait for it to sprout as usual. Much easier to plant the seedling and cotton ball at the same time.

Others have said sprout them in coffee filters. They don't stick like paper towels do. Cotton ball is great idea too - had not seen that one.

Excellent method to get the seeds to crack and to care for the plants! I didn't even think of it, but I have used a matchbook striker before on smaller seeds. I need them to sprout ASAP as trap plants for my indoor garden. I've had ppl mock this method and call it a "middle school science project" method, but when seeds are as valuable as they can be as well hard to come by, -my germination rate is over 99%. Thanks for showing the coco as well! Great video!

The quality of your videos continue to improve- thank you so much for all of the work that you put into them!! They are so comprehensive and you literally give all of the information that other videos leave me searching the internet for lol. I've started branching out to more and more flowers (both edible and not) for the garden, I don't know why but for some reason I never gravitated towards them, mostly fruits and vegetables. This year is the first year I have a lot of flowers and the yard is abundant with butterflies, bees, wasps and other pollinators. I've even started seeing "good" bugs helping me out by keeping the "bad" bugs at bay.

Your nasturtium are so beautiful! Lovely accent too :) This video was so well done and informative. I'm in zone 7 and just started growing nasturtium this year and bought Burpee "jewel mix" seeds. I had read they do well in shade so I tried placing their containers in the shade. At first they did well but then I started getting a lot of yellowing leaves after a month or so but I planted them kinda late in the Spring so they were flowering through June/July. I wasn't sure if maybe they were getting too much sun or not enough water but after watching your video I think it was just too hot for them. They're such beautiful flowers though and I love them so I will grow more next year.

Mashua are so beautiful, I'd love to hear back on how they do. I have the dwarf orange blooms. Didn't know about the Elizabeth Linnaeus Effect, but I have noted how amazing they look in the garden (because of their bright color). I'm excited to collect the seeds and bring them back to my local seed lending library. There is a packet for sale called 'Night and Day' variety, which has cream colored and reddish-black mixed. I love to see contrast in the flower beds.

Great and informative video. I have nasturtiums growing everywhere because they are so easy to grow and they grow fast. My Empress of India have already sprouted and its only been 3 days since they've been sown. I'm about the plant a huge amount in a large empty bed in the next few days. Thank you!!

Since this video I’ve planted nasturtiums in 2021 and 2022. Needless to say I absolutely love them! Flourishes in my garden I’ll never NOT have them
