My seeds started to germinate about 2.5 weeks ago and now they have nice round leaves and many roots. They need to be planted soon. I don't have a place in my house with enough sun so I use grow lights to help them with that. Thanks for your video, it was very helpful

Great video thanks so much!! I saw another video where they said plant lotus seeds in pot of clay and organic fertizer. Cover with water and then place small pot into a much bigger pot and cover all with water. Does that sound right??

Great video! I never cut my seeds & it took 3 days for five seeds to germinate under grow lights indoors at 65° in a fish bowl in a small rock bed without fish… 💜🪷✨🪷💜

Nobody. The seeds just sat around until temperature fluctuations and water permeation did the job of weakening the seed until a sprout could grow. That’s how lotuses survived the Jurassic extinction.

Seeds will still germinate when they're not cut or filed. It just takes longer in that case, upto a year. In natural environment, Lotus seeds usually sit on the floor under water for upto a year, that's how long it takes for the water to slowly weaken the hard coat of the seeds and penetrate to the core. Once water gets in, germination starts. Commercial farming of Lotus or growing lotus in personal gardens usually require seeds that are cut or filed so that the germination happen as quick as within 48 hours of soaking the seeds...instead of taking a whole year.

Looking at when u planted the lotus seeds into the mud reminds me of God planting people here in Long Beach. It is literally a dirty place and it really takes a lot to bloom here!!! It's a spiritually muddy place!!!

Put a charcoal in the water, it will prevent from mold and rit and you won’t need to change the water everyday. You’re welcome ;)

From what I've read and seen, it seems like you just need to top up the water once every 3 days or so once some/most of it evaporates, but I'd read around some to make sure. I've never grown them myself but I'm planning to.

Summer season is best for lotus..you can plant them in spring and summer. It needs lot of sunlight and flowers in spring and summer. The plant don't flower in winter and yes it don't need drainage hole

Bloom time depends on the lotus variety, the weather at the time of planting, the living space of the lotus and how to care for it. It's not fixed.

How do you change the water without pouring the mud out as well?

The mud particles settle down and stay there unless you disturb the pot with a lot of motion. You just need to tilt the pot a bit to pour out the water. Don't tilt too much or the mud will flow out as well. Or you can always use little bit physics, use a tube or a narrow pipe, create a suction on one end and put the other end in the water.
