    @@mmmdanni I use Cuccio Builder Gel in a bottle. Its a white bottle. Basically I do the nail prep, dehydrate, primer and straight on with the builder gel as no base coat needed. I do a thin coat, cure, then a thicker coat, turn my hand over so it helps build the apex and cure. I can add more if needed, then I file and shape and topcoat the nail. I get about 2 weeks before I do a fill and I rarely get lifting. Its magic stuff! My nails are really long now.

    Yep. Also regular manicures allows for growth by always keeping edges flush and protected by polish. A lot of break happened when the nails aren’t regularly filed because the edges get little hair like abrasions from grabbing or opening things and end up breaking at the fold

    I live in the US and in California and getting a fill/ a full set every two weeks is ridiculously expensive. The best way I learned to strengthen my nails is 1) get a top coat with vitamin E, and apply a few coats a couple times a week. 2) apply that liberally maybe two to three coats each time. 3) file them every time they are uneven or else you WILL pick at them, if you're a picker.

Ive been a nail tech for 14 months now, i still consider myself a beginner but Ive been wearing gel for a year and its def not true that your nails get damaged when you wear gel. Its actually the opposite. The gel (or whatever product u use) serves as a great protection layer on top of your matural nail so it not only promotes nail growth, it helps keep your nail strong and look beautiful

    Having hard gel has always hurt my nails because they file my natural nail way too thin when I get a fill, have I just been going to bad nail techs? Or is there something about the filing that matters?

  • @raivo3926

    @raivo3926

    6 ай бұрын

    @@janedoe12munchkin filing does matter since it takes off the natural 'gloss' from the natural nail and makes it more adhesive to the material. The thing is, that nail tech generally should not file off *all* the material but rather leave at least a bit of it. It does not make the next gel correction feel worse or anything. However, if you visit a new tech they might take it off fully because they are not familiar with the material and don't know if it will work well with theirs. Is it harmful to take it off constantly? Of course it is, since it 'merges' with upper nail layers, and while removing it nail layers are removed too. But with right amount and architecture of material your nails should feel much, much better with gel. If the gel burns while curing in lamp, it can be anything from the material itself to your nails being too thin or your higher sensivity in general. Does not always mean the material is bad though, gels are just mostly like this sadly

    My nails naturally grow fast and are quite strong (at least compared to my family who mostly have slow growing flimsy/brittle nails) but usually once they get to be about 5mm long then they will break where they chip on the side/edge. What helped me grow my nails without any chipping or breaking was wearing base coat nail polish, colour nail polish and top coat etc. Basically aiming to have like 3 or more layers of nail polish. It’s a lot of maintenance effort but it was easy and more feasible for me to do in comparison to getting my nails professionally done and allowed me to grow my nails to quite a bit over 1cm long with no breaks. Thought I might offer the alternative here in the comments. I think the general idea is to give the nails extra support. When nails are wet (like after washing dishes or taking showers) they are a lot more fragile, wearing gloves and having reinforced strength with whichever method suits you can make a huge difference

    @@nickelpennybanks make sure you are buffing your nails before applying a primer and bond. Also use a high % alcohol (over 70) to wipe off the nails in between layers of the gel. Also, don’t flood your cuticle which is very easy to do. Go slow. It takes me around an hour and a half for each hand but it’s worth in the end. Also, make sure your products aren’t expired

    What made my nails long and strong is REGULAR POLISH. Once it began to fade after a week or so, don’t redo them completely, just add another coat on top and clear coat. Regular nail polish protects the nails. Use gels only occasionally. I let the thin ends break naturally and started over into thick nails with polish. Learned on KZread years ago and it works.
