    Ever since I got my hands on a jackfruit, I found this video and took 13 seeds from the fruit to plant. Thanks to your helpful guide, my tallest plant is about 6 inches tall and all the rest are very close behind (minus about two which don't really have shoots but very strong roots!). I don't know if the time mine are taking is the same time yours took in this video because I haven't been keeping track, but they are progressing nicely. Thank you for your very helpful video! This is the first thing I've ever grown, let alone from a seed, and it's going great.

    One of the best daywise- time lapse jackfruit video to give an idea for growth planning. Other videos talk for 3/4 of its length w/o substantial information, wasting time watching. Would like to see updates of monthly time lapse.

    Jackfruit trees are trimmed to 15' for easier harvesting. The problem with growing Jackfruit in a container is they do not like their roots restricted. I think a sign of this is the leaves deforming. I want to grow mine outside but I need a tall greenhouse first. These trees do tolerate cold but not freezing temps.

    They can sometimes be cumbersome, but I think they make a difference. They can cut the cold air off the plants. When the historic freeze happened, my plants around the Christmas Lights (which turned on during rolling blackouts) were still alive. The incandescent light put on quite a bit of heat. 😊

    I use 18 gallon or higher plastic totes with lids (I get them from thrift stores). I either use a 20 inch heat mat or stream holiday lights (50 count bulbs) around the sides of the totes. I put the lights on a timer and keep the lid cracked. It works great to start them but they will get stringy without ample light. I drilled a hole in one of the lids and put a grow light through it 😊

    Two of the leaves on one of my 3 month old plants have started to turn brown. This occurred two days after moving them outside in 80°F weather, and giving them a heavier watering than I could have indoors. I've read that they don't like overly moist soil. Do you have experience with this happening? And if so, what was your solution?

  • @shamrockgirl804

    @shamrockgirl804

    I had a three-month-old set did the same thing a few weeks ago. They were outside, and the outside temp was getting warmer. I transplanted them into a deeper pot and replaced the soil. Now, about three weeks later, the top leaves dried out, but the seedlings are sprouting new leaves from the stem again. Yes, they don’t like wet feet and would need a deep pot. This happened to me last year too! I’d definitely replace the soil. It wouldn’t hurt 😊

    FYI, when you go from indoor to outdoor you typically want to gradually increase the time the plant spends outside so it can get used to the new climate. So an hour at first, then a few hours a day, then you can just leave it out there. The plant will survive either way but you every plant I've taken right outside has a small window where it is struggling to adapt to the new climate. It needs to reroute energy for this and sometimes it has to sacrifice foliage to get the energy.

    Unfortunately, most of my seedlings froze and died during the February 2021 Texas freeze. The greenhouse didn’t have heat for several days. Also, the Jackfruit seedlings struggle in the winter greenhouse, possibly due to the reduced sunlight and heat. As of March 2024, I don’t have any jackfruit seedlings.

    I believe around 5-8, give or take a few. I don't think you'll get fruit in the first 2-3 years, or they will be very small. Jackfruit grows 30+ years so they're more of a long-term producer.

    Need 80F and humidity to flourish. Put them in a micro-climate using plastic housing and a cup of water to evaporate humidity.
