    It's really cool to see people growing their own food. It would be great if more people acquired this habit. In addition to improving our health by consuming healthier foods, we contribute to preserving our planet by reducing the use of pesticides. Congratulations on sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

    Hello my friend🖐🏾😁I planted my garlic a couple of days ago. Last year I grew a few bulbs of garlic. This year I went all out. You are the first gardener I have seen to remove some of the paper from the garlic. Now I have to try your way of planting garlic. Oh BTW I didn’t move to California…..long story👈🏾🤨

    Hello Ms J👋. So glad to hear from you, hope all is fine with you. This time of year is perfect to start garlics. Removing papers from garlic cloves is optional, just to give the sprouts a little help. I am praying that whatever you plans are, Lord will keep you safe and blessed. And say hi to Sophie for me please! Thank you so much for leaving a comment!💚

    I planted 3 garlic as experiment as one day i got bored so i said why not try plant a garlic and see if it grows here in my country. Well 1 died probably got to much water idk. Since my dad started to spray medicine for insects cuz i have so many insects eating my other vegetables leafs. So since that day , maybe 2 or 3 days after that one of my garlic plant started to die out. I was so sad. Cuz it started to grow bit taller. But now i have 2 left and the first one grow so tall it scares me cuz it's been only a month and damn that thing grow tall i thought that's not normal 😂 so i watch youtube videos now to see how long i need to wait till harvest and how tall it can grow. I learn something new

    I am not sure what options you have in Ghana, but you can simply mix composted manure (chicken, cow, steer,...) with your soil. If you have fish bone meal available that would be great to add too. Hope this helps and thank for visiting from Ghana😊👋

    When you are planting vegetables in containers, do you have to worry about what plants you put near each other?

  • @TowardGarden

    @TowardGarden

    5 ай бұрын

    Yes, there are good and bad neighbors when growing plants near each other. And it depends on the plant types. Generally plants that compete for similar nutrient needs, or for water and sunlight should not be planted next to each other. For example, corn and tomatoes are not good neighbors since they compete for nutrients and water, and the tall growing corn casts shade on the sun-loving tomatoes. or for this video- garlic and beans are also bad neighbors as onions leads to poor germination of the beans. One way to avoid it (and that is what I usually do) is to plant same crops in one pot. In that case if you place pots next to each other you can control the growing conditions and minimize the competition. But there are plenty of companion plants (good neighbors) that can be grown in the same pot. Garlics can be grown in the same pot with eggplant, peppers, potatoes, or tomatoes. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

    What is that tray used in curing the garlic? Is that the same as the tray for excess water to drip away from seed trays?

  • @TowardGarden

    I use home made or get it from local suppliers. If you want to use bagged compost (and if you live in US) you can use Kellogg garden "Amend" kellogggarden.com/products/kellogg/amend-garden-soil-for-flowers-and-vegetables/ or organic "Garden Soil" kellogggarden.com/products/kellogg/kellogg-garden-organics-all-natural-garden-soil/ . Many garden centers carry them. Hope this helps and thanks for visiting.
