I have two clementine trees growing. I just planted the seeds for fun last year. One is about 1.5 feet tall and the other is about 8 inches tall. I don't know if they will make it to producing fruit but I figured it would be a fun experiment.
The seed sprouts a lot faster in water. I've grown a ton of dragon fruit cactus in my Aerogardens. Yes, you can grow cactus in water, I have them now all over my house in various hydroponic setups. I also replanted some in soil. All have lots of air roots and I think it's probably the easiest cactus to grow and propagate. They will never fruit indoors but they make beautiful plants.

Totally off topic. I wanted to share with you, my mentor. Today I found four black swallowtail caterpillar babies on my parsleys. I'm so happy.
Also, last week I was going through a neighborhood in my grooming van and saw brand new irrigation tubing about 45’! The one you use with the tule!
Wow Robbie, you and Gary can grow anything! You guys are amazing!
That's funny right there ROBBIE. I don't dare ask hubby to try these. If he was to get poked the whole neighborhood would hear about it. 😆 LOL I LOVE YOU ROBBIE ❤

Robbie, that is so cool. I’m going to look for yellow fruit. I have 2 red fruit plants growing and would love to try yellow. It’s taken me a few trial and error years to keep my dragons alive year round because we have those damaging hard frosts . Finally figured out how to keep them alive.🌷🌵💙

@Help Rescue Peaches the Conure Hi, I grow mine in 15 gallon black nursery pots and put frost cloth on top and around the plants before the frost hits. It'll be challenging when the plants get bigger. I guess I could wrap the longer branches with frost cloth. I think the dragon plants would be thrilled to be in a green house.
I sow a Asian men putting garlic to the area that you remove and planted 6:37 and it was growing, oranges , lemons 🍋 and diferente fruits
what a great collaboration between you and Gary !
I know what culantro is, its related to cilantro, I had to buy it at a peurto rican market, when i needed it to make Puerto Rican pasteles last month.😃
Great class.

Thanks for sharing Robbie! I have several seedlings going and I'm excited to get the cat litter and try your method. Mine are pink dragon fruit also, but I'm going to watch for the yellow ones.

Cool! Sprouts had the Yellows 😊
WONDERFUL video !!! Dragon Fruit probably won't over winter here in zone B central Virginia ~ I am guessing . I received my 1/4 inch irrigation tubing in the mail a couple of days ago ~ cannot wait to use it everywhere ! I finally found the $1.25 plastic pitchers @ Dollar Tree & bought 6 of them .We just put up a huge arched trellis over 2 of my raised beds yesterday ~ tall enough to walk under . I am growing gourds , cukes & Butternut Squash over it . Today I am picking up a couple more bags of clay kitty litter @ Walmart . It seems my shopping list these days is based on YOUR VIDEOS !!! 🥰
I did the same thing with a yellow dragon fruit my daughter brought home for me a few months ago. It really is the sweetest! I planted the seeds and got 5 plants. So far so good. Thanks for all the great growing tips! Im super excited about this 😊🌱

I’ve had tomatoes that I could open with seeds growing inside. And in my little compost coffee containers that I put around in my totes and look at some pods, opened the lid and peppers are growing a bunch another time a potato was crying, so yes, you can compost place and grow food. Thanks Robbie.

Potato 😂wasn’t crying it was growing
Just like succulents dragon fruit seeds can grow either from the seeds or from the plant just like you would grow a plant from a leaf as long as it stays intact becomes the host The leaf that you use to grow the plants Gives nourishment to the new plant The ones that grew inside of the fruit is getting its nourishment from the fruit Since succulents need more water when they're tiny it helps the plant to get the excess nourishment You also have a better chance of those seedlings grabbing the original flavor of the dragon fruit that you grabbed it from
OMG! I must ' hunt' for d yellow df. We all love red df but it stains our grandchild clothing. I notice we could easily find rdf as there are growers but ydf are rare. Once I find it am going to grow them. Tqsm for d video Robbie ❤❤❤
Good luck to you on that dragon fruit. I dont have any place or the right weather year round for that. Thanks for the info though.

Nice 😊
The starts don’t need water. We put them in the dirt.
I just put some seeds on top of the soil and covered it to maintain moisture. Several sprouted. I then proceeded to forget about the baby plants and they all died, though I have to say they lasted quite a long time. My zone gets cold though, so it might have been the cold. Then I lost the rest of the seeds and it has only been recently that I saw some ok dragon fruits back at the local market. If I see some yellows, I want to buy one. Or maybe one day, I can find my seeds again and see if they are still viable. As for sprouting seeds in the fruit, you eat enough fruits, you will see sprouting seeds. I have seen them in apples, pears, mangoes, avocadoes, etc. I have yet to figure out how to keep my dragon fruit warm enough in winter. If I can figure that out, I will try baby plants again.
Given the opportunity to try it again with the water I would only next time I would use rainwater. If you used ppurified water they got nothing from the water other than wet. 6:34

We do lots of propagating using purified water, as for starting a plant with purified water it can be better to prevent rotting issues or chemical problems for soft tissues

@Carol Nolan. I believe I read that dragon fruit like full sun. They bloom in June through September. They like compost, manure also a super bloom fertilizer. Mine has only bloomed once last year. There is a lot of information online about growing them.

I don’t know anything about your dragon fruit plant, but if it was a very young plant, when you got it, it could take two or three years until it throws its first bloom. They do like the warmth, but they can take partial shade, the dragon fruit plant in my bird garden, The whole base of the plant is in complete shade. The top of the plant is in full sun. They do need lots of water, and they do not like to be dried out, so make sure where you live that even in the heat they are kept damp, well watered.

I bet the plant would grow roots in sphagnum moss. I want to try dragon fruit. Do you eat the seeds?
Doesn’t Dragon Fruit need constant hot 🥵 weather temperatures? such as states like California, Hawaii and Florida? would be amazing to be able to grow anything and everything in my city.

@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I am in zone 9 central valley CA and I don't have a greenhouse so my dragon fruit plants have to go through the winter outside. I find the yellow fruit plants are more tender and I have had 2 plants die due to the cold. I have a bigger red fruit plant that has survived 2 winters. They are such interesting specimens and fun to see grow.
What's the white stuff your putting on the top of the soil at the end? Vermiculite or perlite?

It’s in the video. It’s a special cat litter.
I have never eaten a dragon fruit. I already have my 1/4" tubing and wire.
I have red fruit cuttings from a neighbor in large containers for a few months. They seem to still be alive. But I don't think it would ever get big enough in the container to actually produce fruit. Would it? The neighbor has a massive tree that towers over my head.
