Hi, I fell down a mushroom growing rabbit hole on KZread and came across your video. I have to agree with the other commenter. I thought you were a Brit too at first. Your first couple of sentences as you started narrating you defo sounded like a Brit 😂. Any updates with this log grow? Did it work out okay?

Thanks! Unfortunately, nothing is growing and it has been two years. I was being patient as the lady said it took 2 years for her. I was hopeful at the one year mark, as there was something orange growing but it is dried up now.

Great video I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now , and you do other variety’s as well please

I'm trying to do oysters as I hear they are easier to do. Still waiting on those to grow as well.

I am still waiting. I do have what looks like Orange mycelium growing on a log.

What's that 'plug' thing?

The plug is a piece of wood that has been inoculated with spores from a Chicken of the Woods mushroom.

Can I use a trash bag instead?

It may be worth a try but it would have to be sanitized which is why the mushroom bag is recommended. I had mold growing even using the special bag. I have a link to that video in the description.

3 months late, but the problem with a trash bag is if it will hold up under heat. Autoclavable is the key search term

@@RobertRoane I think I'm giving up hope. Although something orange was coming from the log last year, it has dried up. :(

How is it growing now?

I took it out of the bag due to the mold that started growing. It is now just sitting in dirt. I don't see anything growing but I'm not ready to give up on it yet.

What would you have done differently? Nothing is growing, so it must all be wrong. Very frustrating when putting so much work into it.
