At first I thought "Oh no! Another unnecessary intro!" but it was very brief and the rest was extremely clear and informative. I will be referring back to this as my beans progress. Thanks a lot from Brisbane Australia.

this looks just wonderful. Remember, people with Favism (g6pd deficiency) which is prevalent in the middle east, cannot tolerate fava bean or any other beans, but mostly fava beans can be deadly. Thank you for your kind attention.

Great video. I am trying to find more info on the bean rust. My broad beans are full of rust but pods still growing. Do I need to cut the plants and burn them? How does the rust affect the soil and nearby plants? Thank you

+Quickcrop I've watched a bunch of your videos today and have found them really helpful. What I like is the interaction between the two presenters - having the second person asking questions and checking things is really good. I like the clear instructions and also I really like seeing the growth of the plant and the veg. In some videos, you talk about what kind of soil certain veg likes and I've found that really interesting.

+martin evans Hi, broad beans are perfect for seed saving. After harvesting leave some pods on the plant to develop for seed. When the pod dries up and blackens remove the beans and store them in a cool, dry spot. They will eventually shrivel and turn brown, ready for planting or storing for later years. Cheers, Tony.

The plants will be fine as long as they are supported, if they grow too tall pinch out the tops to stop growth.

yo this video is sick! I never knew about broad bean varieties until I read about them in Peas and Beans by Anthony Biddle (highly recommend to people who like peas and beans). I'm growing a few broad bean plants here in the states this year to see how they taste fresh. Thanks for showing how to harvest the pods correctly, I'll make sure to reference this video again later in the season :) thanks again guys and best wishes

Chocolate Spot, is I think we know as RUST SPOT, if you touch the plant then its wet after a rain it get rust spots. Love a good feed of Broad beans but did not grow any this year. I can buy frozen ones in the Asian store from China but never as good a a feed of fresh veges from your own garden, grown with love.

Chocolate Spot (Botrytis fabae ) and Rust Spot (Uromyces viciae-fabae) are two distinctly different fungal diseases affecting broad beans. Rust spot will damage foliage while the more severe chocolate spot can cause flower loss and potentially lead to plant collapse. Regards. T.

Hi, i have transplanted my broad beans from the seedling mini pots to the soil just few days ago but they are getting yellowish from the bottom going up. Since it has been raining a but in the past days, would that be an overwatering problem?

Hi, Overwatering can be an issue, but yellow leaves can be can be caused by nutrient deficiency, a viral condition or environmental stress due to irregular feeding or watering. You probably need to investigate further.
