I got a leaf from my friend nextdoor 50 years ago. I was 5 years old. I'm 55 years old now. My plant is 1,5 meter high and fits with big problems through the door. In the winter she stays cool and dry and in the spring she goes outside till the first cold

I have a jade plant in a pot i grew from a cutting 30 years ago. I prune regularly and its only about 40cm tall, but its got a stump so thick it would take both my hands to wrap around it. One of my most treasured plants

I found a single leaf on the ground in a plantshop and the lady said i could have it. That was 6 years ago and since then it turned into a 25cm tall bonsai looking tree. It branches out continually I never had to cut it and has a beautiful red rim on the leaf's edges. I love that little plant! Interesting vid!

I heard they do that if you keep them in cold conditions during winter (for example unheated closed balcony). Unfortunately I don't have these conditions so mine are at a room temperature all year long (obviously warmer in the summer, but definitely not cold enough in winter to encourage blooming).

In the same boat of trying to make my inherited plants as happy as before 😬 idk how old mine is, but its double sized from the at least 10yo ones. I was gonna prune it and give the cuttings away but it has those gross round bug thingies. I thought it was just some dripping from the flowers 😐 welp

Hi, I live in sunny (!) Scotland and had a beautiful old jade I had brought over from Ireland (I moved around a lot). I put the plant out in the garden in the summer and one day I was out all day and it turned out to be really hot, when I got home the plant had collapsed from the heat. I brought her back inside and after a few days it seemed that she was going to be ok. Funny thing is, the branches had all drooped down but then started to turn up at the ends again as she recovered and she looked like a big candelabra! I had lots of comments about that shape, everyone wondered how I got a jade to grow that way. I eventually had to give her to a friend as I couldn't tote her around any more. She's still going strong at 37 years, living happily in a conservatory, looking like a large candelabra tree. Never give up on your jade!

Jade plants are such wonderful plants. I really wish we could share pictures in the comment section here because I would love to see that. Jade.
theres a large jade plant in my school that i watered because it had clearly been neglected and the leaves were shrivelled and then the lab technician came and not only gave me one of her huge succulents because shes retiring soon, but also a stem cutting from her jade plant. i put it in some soil a few days ago and im so excited to watch it grow!
I just got my Jade Plant, she’s a baby. But in many years to come I’m excited to see her prosper with the correct care. Thank you so much! Great Video!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍

That is terrible and I'm sorry to hear that. What do you think happened to it?
in Maryland mine is in direct sun all day, I can water it everyday, the leaves get thick and the tips turn purple (good) i bring it in by OCT, and today was the first day I watered it all winter. The lady who took care of the plants at lowe's said the leaves can go paper thin before being watered.....If i want another plant, cut it, stick it in dirt BAM! you got another jade plant...love them
Recently, my two medium sized jade plants died from root rot. I rescued some babies from the mother plant and planted them in another pot. I will be using tips from this video to ensure that they don't develop the same issues the mother plant had. Thank you sir, have a good day! :)

I'm so sorry to hear of your jades, but glad you were able to salvage some cuttings. I have many Jade videos if you need to know more!
Since you gave me the guts to do a major chop on my old Jade, she is beautiful and happy 🤩😍🤩. I think pruning is necessary to keep them strong and prevent leggy branches putting stress on the base.🥰 Thank you for saving my Jade!🥰🥰😘
Tip #6: If you live in a warm climate like L.A. and you have a giant, gorgeous jade plant with a trunk that has about as big as a medium-sized tree that has always grown outside because the pot is way too big to be inside, then you move to an even warmer climate like Palm Springs that’s only a couple of hours drive from LA and you just assume that the plant will be fine in the heat, you assume wrong, and in late August your plant will look a little droopy and within a matter of days will basically melt and you will be left with a mushy stump that is definitely dead. The secret to growing jade plants in the desert: bring them inside during the months of July through September when temps regularly reach 120ºF, and they wil thrive! Yes, that was weirdly specific…. Great video!

Never underestimate a jade plant, mine is 15 - 20 years old and has gone three months without sun or plant light every winter, it currently lives in a large self watering pot as it is so big and top heavy, it is pruned every spring to make it more compact . It lives outdoors during the summer and is now so big that I can't lift it myself, the trunk is bigger than my wrist and I'm a big woman.

Just take that leaf and literally place it on top of soil. You don't have to do anything with it. It will grow roots all by itself and when it does then you can just water around the roots that search down into the soil

I have one that's the same size as the big one against the wall and want to get it back to a fuller shape. You demonstrated clipping off the new growth, but as I've not pruned it before, should I take off more? Also, I want to replace the old soil with fresh soil, but I'm afraid I'll break off branches when I take it out of the pot its in. How would you go about repotting one of the larger ones you have? Very informative, thank you. My Mom passed away and she could grown anything. I have some of her plants and of course they are very sentimental to me. I don’t want to kill them. I’ve always grow a lot of things outside during the Summer, and I only started growing house plants a couple years ago. I lost a few plants in the beginning to root rot, and I’ve learned how to avoid that now, I hope. I’m extremely careful with watering. My Mom’s Jade plant is beautiful. However, on one side the branches have grown a little taller, probably the side facing the window. I will wait until Spring to cut them back a little and even it up. Great information about the type and size of the pot also. I was about to repot this one, but now thinking, maybe better to wait a bit. Thanks for your help.

Never had a problem with Jade plants. Easiest ever to propogate and have found them fairly tolerant when I've accidentally neglected them. I have them everywhere inside and out.
Thank you for your helpful videos. I learned how to properly prune mine from another video of yours, but I have a question if you have time: We have 2 healthy jade plants (we're in Southern California, btw) that were planted in a front flower bed outside when we bought our house. We had a plumbing issue that required us to dig them up and pot them so they weren't destroyed by the work. The soil that they were planted in is sort of sandy/clay packed dirt. We just used that dirt in the two clay pots that we put them in, and I've watered them when they were dry and it seems to dry out fine on the surface - the plants seem to be thriving. They have grown a LOT in the time they've been in the pots and are very happy looking. Should I repot them with the cactus soil anyway?
Thank you

I can confirm that jade plants will do just fine when you propagate them through LECA and let them live in there afterwards. My tests from last year are all showing new growth and do not seem to mind their prolongated wet roots :D

Most houseplants can remain in water long term. It's when you place them in soil that stays wet for too long and deprives the roots of oxygen/airflow
even in arid conditions here in AZ I still add 50% pumice to my cactus mix and haven't had root rot since...
