How to graph a rational function using 6 steps
👉 Learn how to graph a rational function. To graph a rational function, we first find the vertical and horizontal or slant asymptotes and the x and y-intercepts. After finding the asymptotes and the intercepts, we graph the values and then select some random points usually at each side of the asymptotes and the intercepts and graph the points, this enables us to identify the behavior of the graph and thus enable us to graph the function.

You’re such a great teacher. I decided to go back to school and I have to relearn all of this and omg!!! You have made it such a smooth process. Please don’t stop making videos!!
Brian, youve taught me so much, did all my homeworks and studied for my finals using your lectures. Thank you so much !!!
I've been learning this for a month, and we have test tomorrow n I still don't know how to do it. My teacher puts no effort into making sure his students retain the information and I haven't been able to find any other videos that help. So thank you, I actually kinda understand now thanks to you
i want a math teacher like this ,my teacher thinks he is the smartest person alive and if i ask him question he makes me feel i m the most stupid person alive
My professor could never , thank you so much
You are such a great teacher. As a 9th grader taking precalc in a few weeks, your students were lucky to have you. Thank you for these vids
It was always confusing for me why a function sometimes cuts the horizontal asymptote. You explained in simple terms that its just because a horizontal asymptote does not restrict the domain. That on its own has just helped me alot to sketch any rational function. I appreciate this video.
My math teacher just assigns us text book homework and tests on it the next class with 0 teaching what so ever, not only that but she doesn't even go over the homework. Theres no point in even trying until I found your videos, thank you so much.

You are a complete lifesaver Brian. As I continue for my Freshman year in Spring 2024, I’ll be watching your videos to prepare for college algebra, trig and calculus. Whatever is there, I will be watching! Thank you!!!
Great to be able to re-play these lessons. There is a lot of detail and it goes by quickly. Thanks.
I understand this so much better now. You covered what my teacher took several ninety-minute class periods to teach. I just wished you included how to find a slant asymptote, though
I'm using this video and a few others of yours to help me understand what I need to for my midterm today. Thank you!
Thank you so much. I am in math 1050 and I've been having the hardest time understanding my professor. I've been watching all your videos and they have been saving my life.
Straight forward and to the point. Thanks brian
Just wanted to thank you for always being there to help me understand topics I have a hard time with! I'm in college and have taken each of my math classes 3 times before I've passed. So thankful this is my last class but grateful that you've helped me always!
I'm currently filling out a notecard for my exam tomorrow and had no reliable notes to look back on from my lectures because of my professor's confusing teaching style. i love how you made this complex concept seem so easy. I wish i watched this a few weeks ago! Would've kept me from getting behind and lost in my summer course. But regardless, I am grateful to have come across this video.
I binge watched your vids yesterday and practiced as much as I could. I’m having my math exams later; I’m scared, but I’m feeling more confident thanks to your videos. Bless you, sir.

A nice big point 3:03 Explain here that it is possible to cross a horizontal asymptote in some places on the graph. It serves as a do not cross boundary line in most cases, but not all, as we shall soon see. Do that immediately, as the point is hitting the graph.
Thank you for the video. I followed the methods 🙏🏽. God bless you & your family.
