All of the CC effects are underrated! If you have some free time (which a lot of us do right now) spend an hour or two playing around with all of them. You'd be surprised what they can do.

Bought your course on Gumroad (loved it) and didn't even realize you had a youtube channel too. Miss your voice on tutorials...

Cool effect, but since Echo can be very slow, you might be better off with a radial blur and some levels adjustment.

try precomping it first, then add a mask

I'm stuck at stretching the curves. You can stretch them over the limit (which is 5%) (2:02), but I can't. And your keys seem to have changed after the ease, where one mas marking 5(speed), after the ease is at 1. Must I activate something?? Impressive effect and tutorial, BTW! EDIT: I HAVE FOUND IT. At the graph editor, at the right of the "Eye" button, there's a button which says "Choose graph type and Options". Click on it and select "Edit Speed Graph". Now is shown like yours.

you might need to change your graph type. Look up change from value to speed graph: www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1327260&seqNum=8
