How To Go From ROOKIE To PRO As A Graphic Designer!

When it comes to taking your graphic design from rookie level to pro level, making designs that don't look like templates or generic boring designs, is a huge part of it. You see, the rookie level graphic designer rarely steps out of the box so to speak. They often stick to generic layouts, typography, and lack creativity. This video shows you how to level up to pro level graphic design, and truly get creative with your graphic design skills. We look at things like business card design, brochure design, and social media graphics, to demonstrate how those designs can be rookie or pro, depending on how generic and template-esque they look.
If you found todays video on rookie vs pro graphic design enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. Subscribe to stay updated to all of my uploads and until next time, design your future today, peace ✌️

    That "Moving Images North" card is amazing. The company name is abbreviated to MOIN, which roughly means "Hello" in Hamburg, where the company is located. So the card essentially greets you in bold letters. Love it.

    Great vid...I do want to point out that you made the font so small on the brochure that I doubt those who have a hard time reading up close will be able to make out what the info is. You had plenty of space, why not make the font larger?

  • @BrandTechnica

    As a graphic designer myself the tri-fold design you made didn't really seem more pro as the example (my opinion). It would be better, when making such comparison to at least try and stay within the style/vibe and color scheme. To me, they looked like 2 completely different folders for different companies and a different audience. It's like comparing apples to oranges really... Pro Design is not adding bolder colors, or memes as images, adding elements for the sake of adding elements. -> Less = More. Pro Design is to design in function of getting the correct message across to the audience they're targeting. It's to keep the user experience in mind and design in a way that makes sense to them. These things also really vary from audience to audience and the of type media you're using. Even something as simple as print vs digital makes a huge difference in how to design.

    Thought the same-especially the et character and the girl feel incoherent. They belong together only because both of them are pointing?

  • @BrandTechnica

    @BrandTechnica

    15 күн бұрын

    @@09cutie0pie Exactly, they don't send the right message for the audience; the original tri-fold was meant for an adventurous yet down to earth kind of audience that loves the outdoor. Even though it might be a template; it for sure is one of the better ones out there. The girl and ET don't send that same message; if it even send anything at all. Not to mention using any movie character images in a commercial design is copyright infringement. Using templates also isn't a crime; I mainly use them as a blueprint for inspiration and to help me understand the client's vision. They are also handy to give you some extra time that would otherwise be spend on pure technical lay-out/design work; especially in Video & Motion Graphics or Web Design. Don't invent the wheel twice...

  • @wendtchr

    I wouldn't think you would be able to use copyrighted characters like ET in a company brochure like that? I know it's fir demonstration purposes, but its done twice in the video. Just seems odd unless I'm missing something.

    @@SatoriGraphics yes, I wondered the same thing. How can you use pop culture imagery in advertising copy without legal ramifications? Wouldn't it cost a lot of money? This may be a dumb question, so keep in mind I'm only a few semesters into studying graphic design. I'd love to add things like this to my design but my understanding was that you'd have to pay big licensing fees to use things like this.
