The Broncos literally gave up 70 points in a single game, like that literally just happened. In week 3 of the NFL season the Miami Dolphins faced off against the Denver Broncos, and, it was an abject disaster. The Dolphins offense destroyed the Broncos defense at nearly every turn, and Sean Payton’s defense gave up a 70 burger, and their pride. HOW could an actual NFL defense give up 70 points in a single game? This week’s episode uses the coaches all 22 to analyze the Denver Broncos defense allowing 70 points to the Miami Dolphins.

Shoutout to Prize Picks for sponsoring this week’s episode, if you use my promo code ROLLINS they’ll match your deposit up to $100: prizepicks.onelink.me/ivHR/ALEXROLLINS Guys I literally don’t know how anybody could stop the Dolphins offense right now. The film from this game was equal parts Broncos horridness, but also Dolphins unbelievable ingenuity. That’s why I hopped on Tua more than 280.5 passing yards, and then.. on the flip side of offensive dominance, I took Justin Fields over 168.5 passing yards cause he’s cleared 200 two out of three times this year, and 168 is a insanely low number.

Connor Williams was mediocre in Dallas but him being the center in Miami is clearly playing to his strengths. His get off and ability to get to the second level as a center is really impressive. You need a certain level of strength to be an offensive lineman in the NFL sure, but you compare this team's blocking to another dominant run team like Philly and it's obvious that agility, positioning, and scheme can be just as effective as raw power and technique.

After I read that Sean Payton had accepted the head-coaching position in Denver I wrote he was taking a huge risk. Obviously his story isn’t necessarily finished there but he had a QB that was very highly paid and underperforming, lack of draft picks because of the trade to get that quarterback, and potentially a bad salary-cap position for awhile to boot. I think the Carolina job was open, and so was the Indy job, and there was a better chance of success with either of those franchises. If this doesn’t work out Payton’s legacy will be trashed. I think that Payton does have a big ego and maybe he figured he could turn around the Broncos faster than a rodeo expert. Well, we will see if he can stay on the Bull for more than eight seconds.

This is all an indictment of Vance Joseph as a DC. Always knew he wasn't up to snuff against better offenses and this is Exhibit A. He didn't have the LBs to play the Fins offense straight up AND they were also unprepared against the passes at the middle but also the run game. But shout outs to noticing the Tua shovel pass. Its kinda unique because he's a lefty in the pocket but he's naturally right handed so him being able to get a pass like adds that layer of confusion for the defense.

While the team has always drafted well (2017, for example) and had one of the greatest QBs of all time for 15 years, they only won one super bowl by purposely targeting and trying to injure players (Bountygate). I’m glad that the Dolphins exposed Sean Payton’s lack of flexibility and adjustments (which are necessary to be a good HC) to the NFL world on Sunday, especially after he was talking that much smack about Tua.

@@t4d0W 08 Saints led the league with 463 points scored finishing 8-8 allowing 393. Followed up by 4 7-9 seasons in 2012 during Payton’s suspension they scored 461 while allowing 454, 2014 401-424, 2015 408-476, 2016 469-454. It’s comical. To average 28.3 ppg in those years and finish 36-44 because under his stewardship his d allowed an average of 28.1 ppg.

@@t4d0W The 2009 Saints had a very opportunistic defense and played a “physical” style of defense. 2010, 2013, and 2020 had respectable units but Brees’s legacy looks different if his d doesn’t let Seattle drop 41 on them, 36 in San Francisco, and a Minneapolis miracle for the cherry on top. Really the 2018 NFC championship game was an acceptable performance and a blatant PI no call is the difference between a Super Bowl appearance.

Only one thing you missed: Tyreek actually ran the wrong route on the TD play at 4:00. You can even see Tua look for him on a corner route to the top of the screen. Not like this excuses the coverage but it looks like they were playing a concept that didn’t happen

IMO The Niners did it best. Chargers had it luck out for them last season but this season Staley was def not ready for the adjustments. Niners pressed well in the 2nd half (even if they got burnt), but had their front 4 win often to pressure Tua. As well as having Warner patrol the underneath stuff and even being able to run with the Fins receivers.

The chargers tried to disrupt miami's timing by playing press. they were burned and made numerous adjustments. you can't just press at the line and expect an NFL offense to collapse.

  • @1heavyelement

i suspect the broncos defense spends too much time practicing against Wilson and his style of play. Wilson rarely throws to the middle of the field. he's just too short to see over the linemen.

6:46 my man. READ YOUR KEYS. When a team runs motion and counters the backfield WILL lie to you. That center and guard sre taking zone steps. Thats all the information you need. The LB needs to maintain that gap which is now moving with the zone. If he does that he runs into the RB.
