I had a buddy give me a geetar that needed some repairs and I was just looking to see if there was anything I may not be considering and so I run across this vid where dude is painting the damn near exact same make and model of geetar I am fixin to!! Sweet! UGH I gotta refret the damn thing first though!

Amazing man!! I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled to see if you start doing this as a business sideline! Got a strat that could deffo be doing with being spruced up!

Hey can you please tell me about the spray and paint you are using. Please

It looks like you used Liquitex acrylic paint for a lot of the painting here. How would you say the paint has held up over time? I'm researching how to paint guitars and trying to see if I can get away with using the acrylics I have rather than going out and buying nitrocellulose paint haha.

I have a guitar I'd like paint, is it just standard spray paint or do I need special stuff.

what did you spray after painting?

2 questions 1. How light do you press on the sander as i have a heavy hand with sanding 2. What kind of paint did you use?

What type of paint would you recommend? Is it necessary to sand before?

Should a guy use 2k clear or just regular clear coat?

But won’t that affect the guitar sound and the wood?

Hey there. I designed it myself. I took a picture of the guitar and then I drew out what I wanted on it and used it as a guide to copy it onto the guitar using a white pencil. I made another tutorial where I used some stencils and stuff but I done this one free hand. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching ✌️❤️

I wanna do this to this old guitar my dad has that’s just collecting dust but my dad keeps saying no bc it’ll affect the sound too much, but yours didn’t sounds much different

I don't think it effected the sound at all on this one. It was just a Yahama acoustic. It still sounds good. I put some bright strings in it and it sounds good to me ✌️❤️

Thankyou! Montana Acrylic markers. They're my go to markers for stuff because the pigments match their spray paint range. Thanks for watching T✌️❤️

I wanna paint my old guitar but I m not an artist. What kind of paint/technique would you recommend? And if you put random guitar varnish over your work, what would happen?

Blending different colours of spray paint always works well. I've seen folk do some cool stuff with masking tape and making geometric shapes and stuff. I put a spray varnish over what I painted and its kept it looking sharp. I can onky assume any varnish or lacquer would do the trick as long as you keep it off any pickups and stuff. Hope it goes well ✌️❤️

Hey there, to be fair I haven't noticed any difference with the sound but I've never really been one for tone if you know what I mean 😂 I just kind of rattle the guitar and hope for the best but I record with it and haven't noticed anything horrific. Cheers T🖖❤

What grit sand paper did you use to remove the clear coat?

I just used whatever I had the garage at the time. To be honest I just used what I could becuase I knew the spray paint would smooth it out enough to paint anyway ✌️❤️

I honestly couldn't tell you. I've never noticed a difference but tone and stuff isn't my forte. I just rattle the thing till it does what I want it to do 😂✌️❤️

What type of paint fo you use? And does it peel off or should I varnish it? Thanks

I use Montana spray paints and on this guitar I just used acrylics and I varnished it using one of the Montana spray varnishes. That should give it some protection. I made another video about painting guitars where I go into a bit more detail if that helps ✌️❤️

I didn't really notice a difference. Don't get me wrong it's a yahama acoustic I was gifted to paint I wouldn't have done it on something pure expensive because I would've worried about ruining it. If it's not a guitar your playing purely for tone then I'd go for it 👍✌️❤️
