This was a requested style that I thougth would be really tricky, but, actually it really isn't. You have to get to gripos with rolling your hair but, once you've got that then your flying!
This is a super-cute romantic look that looks awesome with off-the shoulder dresses. It would work really well with a Grecian style outfit too I think.
Let me know if you try it! I love to hear from you all. ALSO I have just set up a twitter and facebook account so, if you are into all of that then add me.
Dare I say, at a push this could be a bridal style, imagine with delicate little flowers placed around the central bun - beautiful!

I would like to add that Victorian ladies and those that came before them saved all the loose hair that shed into their brushes. They would take a bunch when they had saved enough, bunch and ball it up a bit, rat it a bit so it will loosely stay together and then use it in their rolls to add more volume. I suppose in today's market you could also do the same with some loose weave you may have lying about. Great way to stay true to your natural color and fill in the rolls. The store bought rolls never match well.

Yes, this!! The resulting wad of hair was called a 'rat' and it was brilliant for adding volume. Rats were used throughout history, not just the Victorian period.

I knew an elderly lady who told me this back in the 90s. she had a collection of antiques and she had this beautiful dish on her vanity and told me it was where they would keep their lost hair to shove back in to give a fuller look. I still love history and she was a major part of me getting into it!
Excellent tutorial- clear, to the point, no vacuous or repetitive chatter, good camera angles, and a brilliant hairstyle.

Thank you. Tights are such a good idea. Yes, in this era they used all sorts of stuff to give their hair the shape they needed, from natural hair rats to crazy looking frames, I think it's easy to look back and think ' WOW how did they manage that? They managed it with help - just like us!. Thank you for the tip xx
I've been looking for a tutorial like this for AGES! ever since I was a little girl, and i watched anne of green gables I've been obsessed with this hair style! Thank you so much!! :D
This is my favourite hairstyle. Believe it or not, Sims4 reminded me of this hairdo. I was like:"This is gorgeous! "
My mom suggested this style for my wedding day next year, and I have to admit I'm totally impressed. :-) :-) I do plan on having this style and you make it look so easy :-) ... I just hope a hair stylist has the ability to make it happen. Thank you for making this old-timey hairstyle new again.

Natalie, I still can't decide if you are more beautiful or more skilled! The hair styles you present underline your natural beauty so well... You should wear it every day! That's one thing. Secondly - finally somebody got to the original recipes and showed, how they did it over a century ago. This "historical authenticity" is a really strong side of your presentations for me. I couldn't do it myself due to my luck of imagination in this field;) I'm an amateur passionate of 19th and first half of 20th century fashion and have been looking for this type of tutorial forever. So thank you, Natalie and keep doing it!:)
Actually I liked the way women dressed and had their hair in the Edwardian Victorian age. Of course it was the style of dress & the corset but they did look elegant at the time.
wow! you are so beautiful!!!! And this has to be one of the best Victorian hair tutorials on youtube. thank you!!
Thank You, Fitfully Vintage, for showing me how to make this style! You made it short, sweet, and easy to follow. Wish I could say that for more How To videos! My hair looks best messy and I've always wanted to try something like this. Stay well.
thank you so much for this tutorial. I actually have a Victorian themed photoshoot tomorrow and this would be perfect for the outfit I have planned out, & I like that it wasn't too complicated. :)

Beautiful. Beautiful girl with lovely, happy voice. Tutorial was very clear and to the point. Thanks.
Beautifully done! Looking through these hairstyles, yours seems to be the prettiest, and are made to seem the simplest to do. I intend to try these! Thanks so much for making the videos:)
I shaved my head in April of 2017 for pediatric cancer. It's now August of 2018 & my hair is shoulder length & very layered. It's been 1 year & 4 months of growing out my hair! I have been taking excellent care of my hair, by the way. It's not damaged at all. I never style it with heat or use heat to dry it. I never bleach it. I never dye it with permanent dye. I dyed it black last week with henna hair dye which is semi permanent...It really suits my Victorian, goth style/Victorian, funeral parlor outfits.
You're absolutely amazing! These styles look so gorgeous on you, keep up the amazing work xx
Another great video....thanks again for sharing and showing how to make these wonderful styles!!
Thank you for your request. Her hair is beautiful throughout isn't it?! I have had a look at the ball scene and it is pretty tricky to see the detail at the back but I will keep trying and let you know when I have it. Thank you again x
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for posting. As a seeker of vintage style I feel like I've hit the how-to jackpot here! But that rolling technique... that will take practice :)

It has now been a week since I got married and everyone in attendance loved my hair! It stayed in place the whole night through (with lots of bobby pins and hair spray of course😁) but the only thing is, I am unable to load a pic through here. Is there a Facebook page I can send you one or two?

Heather Baden Oh Heather that is so fantastic to hear!! Yes, please my faceboook page is facebook.com/vintagious
just did a gibson girl photoshoot and this was a life saver. I have extremely straight hair, so I was worried that this wouldnt work. so I slept in curlers, putting them in the same direction as this tutorial has you do the actual rolls. so basically, just toward the top center of my head. then I pulled out the curlers and followed this tutorial and it worked brilliantly.
OMG this is my favourite hairstyle video of all!!!! Thanks so much you do such great work and the styles suit you so well!! :-)
Gorgeous!
omgoodness :) love love this, and ur hair is awsome, you demonstrate very well, easy to follow.

Thanks so much for sharing. I wear my hair in a bun everyday. I didn't know how to make it look puffier all around. then one day buy chance it gathered my pony tail as usual but did not put a pony tail holder in. I just twisted it and put one clip on either side. I had an everyday Gibson girl. Elizabeth
